Thread regarding Nielsen layoffs

Do Nielsen data scientists care about managers telling MRs to falsify demographic household data?

Example, under 35 when HH not under 35. Size 1 when HH more than 1 person. Or telling reps to skip signing up BBO homes that want to do it? Do the data scientists care? Nielsen leaders allowed it and that went against what MRs' training and some MRs were against this fake data.

What's going on in engineering?

Other than they are putting important projects that matter to people in the hands of cheap and d-mb offshore managers that know nothing about the big picture?

Considering Nielsen still paying households based on race (100B, 150B, 200B, 200BM, 300BM, 400BM) and all the lawsuits and settlements that has been happening, you have any faith in HR? Just google class action Nielsen.

I'm not in data science but if I tell you what they are doing in engineering these days you wouldn't believe it!

Every time I talk with people about what we are doing (including current Nielsen employees) they say that knowing that they wouldn't want to be a Nielsen panelist at all. It is basically an attack on privacy and security.

Everybody should try to find another job, this company is doomed!

Agree, their job is to protect the company. No guarantees of course, but if preventing people from falsifying data isn't protecting the company nothing is.

You do realize HR is not your friend and they have helped Nielsen managers retaliate and fire employees right?

A better way could be to write down notes on paper and HH numbers and once you get enough evidence emailing it off the Media Rating Council.

Do not falsify data. Nielsen's methodology gets audited by EY and this sort of falsification could eventually be discovered and be very damaging to what's left of the business. Nielsen's data has no value if clients think we are making up numbers.

If you were really asked to enter false information about HH age or size, you should refuse and ask for written instructions to do so (which of course the manager will not give you). Complain to HR if they try to retaliate. If you enter false info the manager will just put the blame on you if it gets discovered.

Homes are no longer willing to share information with Nielsen and privacy laws have impacted the accuracy of the research data. There is so much “fake” data being pushed out by Nielsen and it will only get worse as so much research knowledge is being lost due to layoffs. The people remaining are focused on costs, users of this data will need to decide on its value going forward.

Do you know of any examples of when a home gets installed as BBO, and shortly after the home somehow gets an antenna (either the FR brings it or convinces them to get one even though they won't watch local stations), then the home counts as OTA and ounts for the market because the HH now receives at least one OTA station?

That literally has happened in several of the markets I've worked in. Management doesn't care because the work is being resolved. Let's be frank here, if they still keep people proven to discriminate, they don't care about fake demos. The FRs will correct it where they can and the MR gets praised for a sign.
