Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Anyone can confirm that it may be peaceful ‘till December?

That’s the rumor and I wish it was true. I desperately need not to constantly worry for a while.

By December the severance package will be broadcoms standard packages. But unless you are in the US, it likely will not be worse than the current vmw package.

Already the vmw packages for EU/Canada barely make the cut of employment standards so for the global folks I wouldn’t worry about it. If you are in the US , hope for a layoff after Sept 15 / before November so you get better severance and reap the sweet RSU vest in Sept.

More layoffs may be coming in last two weeks of June. More than one meeting I’ve been in mention July as timeframe to discuss how org will “redistribute” and plan for H2

Broadcom severance package is twice as lower as VMware's so whoever got axed after September will be f**cked

@1dbm+1t1Ep8nH It offers a standard package, which is far from generous.

My advice would be to do the best you can on the job, so even if you're laid off in future, you know you'll get good severance and can proudly proclaim the quality work you have done in future job interviews. Broadcom is a lean company, but offers generous severance when it's time to part ways.

Yes, you don't need to worry about layoff anymore. At least this year.

Just accept the fact that you WILL get laid off one day. It will happen. The worry will be gone once you realize you're just a number on a spreadsheet.

@dmx+1t1Ep8nH Work on pi----g off more customers. Less customers, less to work on. Layoff can only reach a level eventually.

I just hope I get laid off SOON so I can get the VMW severance package!

Also if you are not in an R&D center office, you will eventually be laid off. very few remote employees will remain, and only those in high-ranking positions.

Layoffs will continue until VMware headcount reaches 7k, keep in mind if the revenue drops this count also drops proportionally. I am not sure if 7k is relevant after this 600m revenue loss. Hope for the best, but be prepared for the worst, very few folks will get the RSUs.

EUC divestiture will cut some costs, GSS and PSO outsourcing will cut some, too, and of course, layoffs will be necessary to reach the desired headcount number—7K, 8K, whatever—just not 28K people. Hock has been transparent with his cost numbers.. no point worrying. Stay and roll the dice or do something about it and prepare.

Remember: 7K. vmware head count will be reduced from 37K to 7k. No escape here. Only stock price matters. Let customers go to gutter. Prepare yourself for Tsunami in coming months.

Most likely after this -600m, they will reduce the costs by layoffs

All GSS and PSO will be outsourced by end of year ..

The company culture is based on fear of layoffs at any moment. That isn’t changing ever.
