rather 1%, Hock is not doing enough
"I'm sure they will justify more with the announcement of vmware revenue dropping by 600 million."
This reminds me of when an abusive husband beats the sh-t out of his wife and screams, "look what YOU made me do". Take away the tools and the ability of ppl to sell, then wonder why their numbers are a-s, lol.
Wouldn't be surprised if they decide to sell the dead husk of VMware in a the next 2-3 years or so after all the big companies ditch and go to some other stable solution that is actually maintained.
This was a cash grab designed to boost the AVGO stock price and split it -- which Hock said they would NEVER do, btw. It's clear daddy Hock had no intention of actually investing in VMware.
the plan was right in front of us this whole time...
- Buy VMW for 68 billion
- Pump AVGO to make up that expense (already almost there lol)
- Split AVGO, pump further
- CUT expenses of VMW to nothing but keep a skeleton crew to maintain contracts
- Milk VMW for 2-3 years of contracted top 1500 customers til those contracts end
- Sell the parts that make sense to sell, EUC, Tanzu, etc...
- Sell the IP to microsoft or IBM or someone for 20-30 billion
- Wash hands of it and use the gains to buy intel
- Hock has NO interest in software, he wants to be the chip god and take on TSMC.
I'll come back in a couple years and point out how right I was lol.
There was a quiet round early this month, starting last Monday. US employees mostly. A trusted source told me that this round was like 5-10%. Broadcom filed a WARN notice (a friend that got laid off showed me), so it had to be significant enough for that.
Don't be fooled, you are NOT safe. There ARE a LOT more coming. A VP told me he was tasked with 10% early month, another 30% end of month. This first round was managers, both technical and non-technical, and the next round will be their teams after Broadcom has milked as much info out of the as they can under the pretense that they are hiring outsourced teams to cover for the US layoffs.
Don't be fooled. They are also ACTIVELY lying to ex-VMW employees. They are not just omitting info or sidestepping questions, they are actively lying to you.
Broadcom is un-ethical, cruel, and their entire compensation structure is a massive pair of golden (plated) handcuffs that are designed to trap you into thinking that you might strike it rich. With the recent stock bo-m, I'm sitting on over 1.5 million USD if I'm "allowed" to stay. I'm walking away from it at the end of this month and asked my manager to "put me on the list". My moral compass is better than this fu--ing place. I suggest all VMW ppl do the same.
Hock said software was a scam in a coffee talk lol. It's not real, blah blah... Show him how real it is when VMW revenue drops another 600 million next Q.
Get out while you can. All the broadcom lackies gonna be like "so long and good riddance" or some other dismissive bullsh-t on here... Skip it you tools, we get it, you think you are safe, and maybe you are in your little hidey hole, but your day will come when the red menace turns on you too.
Fortunately 0% layoffs in Europe. I think Hock won't be able to touch Germany, Ireland, UK and Bulgaria
Does anyone know dog and pony show “Radio” is still on this year in SF ? It is absolute waste of money with people boasting pet projects. It used to be “Skinny Jeans” Kit’s favorite show.
I hope Hockey Tan will also cancel vmexplore forever.
One the way down to 7k-10k employees. It will be a well oiled machine extracting as much profit at possible until the next acquisition.
Since November we went from 37k employees down to 25k employees, of course not all are layoffs, a lot of people are leaving on their own.
Plus the Costa Rica and Cairo sites being closed...
I'm sure they will justify more with the announcement of vmware revenue dropping by 600 million. Which in itself is a manipulation of information...
600 million down is a decimal point move when it comes to Billions in profits.
Oh god forbid it went from 11 billion to 10.4 billion....
We better cut the lowest paid people so Hock can feel better about his $161 million bonus...
5%
0% in Sofia, we all still get great RSU tax free!
