Reading all these posts about Optum (and I agree with ALL of them) show how poorly the employees are treated. If I were families or a patient getting services by this company I would be SUPER concerned about the type of care I was receiving by employees. Now before people start bashing hear me out. The employees are the face of any service organization, and they are the front lines representing care to the patients. If the employees are mistreated and not happy--by default they aren't giving their best. If they are worried about constantly losing their job, or being written up, or dealing with the internal politics, or avoiding getting on someones bad side, or etc... How much time is left to put their all into really providing outstanding care for the people who are actually paying you to do it--the customers. WISE UP OPTUM!!! TREAT YOUR PEOPLE LIKE THE ACTUAL ASSETS THEY ARE. REMEMBER YOU FAT CATS AT THE TOP ONLY HAVE JOBS BECAUSE OF THE PEOPLE AT THE BOTTOM ACTUALLY DOING THE WORK. VALUE THEM AS SUCH!!!! I for one refuse to use any services provided by Optum or United Healthcare until they change their ways.

It does, but sadly the company know that most of the employees they have left are all the yes men. The employees that will do anything and take on as much work as given and never even think of looking for another job, complaining or even speaking up. They’re not worried about pushing them too far. They’re all in lucky to have a job mode. That’s where they want them. I guess it further proves the OP’s point.

I work for Optum and use another medical group for my medical care. Optum is cheap and I would never place my healthcare in their hands.
They cancelled contracts with City of Hope and Little Company of Mary because Optum is cheap and does not want to pay those hospitals what they are worth.
