Fire in the hole!
Source? I am p6 and I know many p6, to be honest I think many are not qualified even for p5 or p4, doing 0 impact for years. What about p5, as they were the majority in VMware, also having zero impact..
"Happy Hunger Games! And may the odds be ever in your favor.”
All p6 and above will be impacted in coming months slowly . target is 30% retention
RTO employees were also laid off. I am a hybrid who stays home most of the time and survives. I know people live beyond 50 miles are doing fine too ... for now .... I will stay home and get picked for the next round.
Sofia not yet, but my director mentioned VMC, Tanzu, SRM and VR will be affected at Sofia at some point. Hope for the best, unfortunately most people won't get the RSUs as expected cut would be beyond 60% for the next 4 years.
Any layoffs in Europe? Is Sofia r&d impacted? We have many p5s in Sofia, although some are like juniors, but still hope for the best.
5 people confirmed across multiple departments in gs yesterday. I am in gs, and have personal friendships with some who were cut, its hush hush, no one is announcing anything, it seems as if some of the management chain was skipped and did not know... (HR to direct manager contact).
Which US VCF site was affected?
I can confirm 0% layoffs, this is just rumours.
This is the way!
One P7 trades off for 10 P5. Excellent deal.
weak P6/P7s are traded off for strong juniors by their managers.
never pi-s off your manager.
RSU is just a carrot not a promise... I suppose the severance package is based on the lower monthly salary (if they cut yours by 15% or 20% during the take over).
Imagine having 4 million dollars of unvested RSUs and having all that taken away. It's like winning the lottery but accidentally throwing out the ticket.
P6 and above have a lot to lose if they are impacted.
For others, it is just a common job. Nice to have, ok to leave.
For MTS or Sr. MTS in early career stage, it is better to leave Broadcom as early as possible.
Hock Smash!
VCF
P7s in which BU? VC, VCF, VSAN...?
VCD and Tanzu
I know at least two P7 who got impacted.
Heard at least one P7.
It’s spread across every where including VCF Networking team.
Most junior engineers. A few P5s, P6s. A few managers. No one is safe in BC.
To add to my prior message, this was my J3 #overemployment it is always nice 2 months free rolling + severance if Im not mistaken.
Was it just "2 mos" salary and no severance afterwards?
I heard PSO was impacted today in US.
I was also impacted, echoing the last comment, it was very poorly handled, but honestly I'm grateful to be free of this place after all the uncertainty and poor treatment of employees. I had already started interviewing so now I can fully focus on that.
I was just impacted today. the way it was handled was pretty bad. Basically you get a random invite 20 minutes before the title was VCF Organization announcement I sort of knew, because it came from HR (it was a webinar link). In the call was the GM plus a whole bunch of leaders who then disconnect and go fire their people. They deliver the news tell you that will be losing access immediately and you get paid 2 months. then bye bye. The rest of the information will be coming via personal email tomorrow. They told us to put an away message on our emails, to contact our boss for any information and we were informed not to complete any sort of work starting at the end of the call.
I am not hearing anything. Where exactly this is happening? Did leadership schedule a meeting to go over this in a group or what ? cricket here ...
Heard AWS VMC teams to be impacted next week
VSAN Dev Teams or GSS ?
Hock has another 1b expenses to cut. Bye bye PSO and GSS, to some services company and many more lay offs..
From the blog
With over $1 billion in revenue per year and more than 37,000 customers, vSAN has become the preferred choice for HCI deployments.
Does anyone actually use VSAN by choice? I've seen the VSAN Kool-Aid served up for years, but never saw a single customer (out of about 30) go mainstream with it.
Cloud Director for one
So who else then? vSAN is all I saw mentioned.
No, is not only vSAN
According to Blind posts, seems only vSAN so far.
