Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Need Real Insight, I am new to the company

I need the real information. Our store just found out our new regional will be visiting our store. What does this mean for the managers? Do we get help from other stores? Will the regional speak to me? What do I prep for? Afraid to ask my store manager, she appears to be spun up. I just want the facts please.

Know your business (numbers) and action plans for underperforming areas also depends on the type of visit you may or may not get help .Don’t be scared to ask!! Goodluck!

Do whatever you have to do to stay under the radar.

If you have to ask the question doesn't that tell you all you need to know?

Communication with the store manager is key. If you are afraid, you shouldn’t be in a leadership position. My advice is Ask, Ask, Ask. Managers themselves don’t know it all, at Macy’s some managers and captains talk the talk but don’t walk the walk. They fake it to they make it or don’t.

former M regional..

advice.. be yourself, they may interact with you. in a healthy store environment, your store manager should be able to coach and help you prepare. if your departments
are a focus area. Either way you should know your business growth areas, and opportunities. You can also discuss current success stories within your department. I.e events, career development & training and how your team is elevating the customer experience. Realistically, unless you are focused area, they probably won’t spend much time there as they visit many stores a day. Are you fully utilizing your allocated hours?

most of these visits are defined by the store manager - regional team. so their guidance would be important.

I would personally go and interact with my team a few days before and make sure they had all the help they need. confidence is key, have all your information ready on your tablet and memorized. in a healthy environment, they may ask if you have any questions for the regional team.

physically walk your department make sure everything is up to standards. check your stockrooms as well. remember, it’s just retail, at the end of the day. I understand the current climate is not easy just do the best you can. in the past, you should be able to see all your business metrics on your tablet so if you don’t know how to view all that ask someone in your store since you are new.

for the grammar people, understand it’s super late, where I am. I’m just trying to be helpful.

have a good visit.
