Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

When you can’t lead, you slash, burn, and blame

With yet another round of deep layoffs coming within weeks, you have to wonder when shareholders will demand answers from the $15M a year CEO whose “leadership” has resulted in the company shrinking, lost customers, and still no viable product.

Can anyone point to a single success since SM came on board? We have a CEO who’s completely lost, an incompetent CMO who doesn’t understand marketing and doesn’t care, a CFO who invited lawsuits due to a smoke and mirrors approach to finances, and a chief product officer who has yet to deliver a product that works. Yet none of them think they’re the problem.

Will be interesting to see if any of the overpaid and redundant VPs will get cut, but the reality is that once you reach a certain level in this company or have the right friendships, you suddenly have zero accountability.

SM is a failure. We knew it the day he gave his first town hall speech with that stupid grin. You could instantly tell he was a L plate CEO.

Zero shareholder value over the last few years, massive layoffs, zero new customers should all be crammed into his short cv at Teradata

Why would you Leave? Go find another job and take an example from CEO SM and stay on the TDC payroll and do nothing....Lead by example. I wouldn't quit, I'd just call in once in a while and collect my checks and Benefits. Look, you got Sales Consulting managers who do nothing but get Certs or wait for retirement. You have Sales looking for there next renewal or claiming AI knowledge, you have CSMs led by an incompetent Management team who don't lift a brain cell of knowledge to help any customer, there is no consulting org, 3 rd party Consulting being Sued, no new logos - just garbage, No marketing but DEI and an Analytics Team that has no comprehension as to how Archaic Clearscape is to the market. Finally you have VCL, the new product, a superfund Cleanup lake that no one will buy but the Giants which traded box seat access. This is so pathetic its amazing!!!!!

@1gxu+1t0Mwlo1 The way it's going you won't have to wait long... The frequency of layoffs is accelerating- from once a year, to twice a year, to ongoing this year. They really really never stooped since November.

I was also wondering what to do and decided to start the search so when something worth attention comes up, I'd go for it.

PS. Teradata will love you for leaving voluntarily. They don't have to pay the severance package.

I’m torn between waiting for layoffs and severance or getting out while I can.

Some smart ppl will hopefully check if there are still many shares held in ownership of organisations not tightly connected to the board/LT. I have a feeling that last the 2-3 years of buybacks allowed not only to enrich the LT (at the expense of all those who lost their jobs), but also to get rid of any possible voice of reason.

Why would SM do anything different?

He makes 15m+ a year and hasn't been called out on less customers, lower stock price, etc, etc, etc.

It's sad watching Teradata fail.

Anyone have valid G2 on scope of layoffs?
I was wrong last month.

Is End of June target time?
Global?
Focused more on one region?
Focused on certain functional jobs or levels?

Inquiring minds want to know!
Thanks

A little harsh, you are not giving him enough credit. He has quite the track record; SM spent $50+M on McK, another few million on an inept CRO, NC. Funded a DEI program, pandering to KCC and HA. Brought in his family and friends from Oracle and IBM. Hired JW who has more ethics violations than we have new logos. He loves to travel, and host lavish dinners, not to mention well known exorbitant drinks bills. Ran anyone technical enough to challenge HA or DS out of the company. To cap it all he delivered -40% negative shareholder value during his tenure. Meritocracy or board cronyism? His former Oracle colleague who hired him is still on the board.
