Thread regarding CGG Veritas layoffs

Viridien??????

Huh?? What??

SZ, CEO, Viridien, said: "Our new name, Viridien, connects our company's history to our future, confidently positioning us for accelerated growth as an Advanced Technology, Digital and Earth Data Company."

So it’s the name that’s been hampering the growth of the company? Not the disastrous decisions the management team has made? Who’d have thunk!?

What a shambles they couldn't even secure our rebranded name on social media sites. We can now be found under weareviridien or viridiengroup!

…pretty clear based on 20 or so thumbs up thumbs down that ‘layoff’ attracts the opinion of corporate malcontents and should not be taken seriously. Notice that it is only where constructive comments were made (“seems anonymous hasn’t checked…) where there was thumbs up support for a positive view. But then as is typical of risk averse corporate officers, they hide under their desks otherwise. I’m now just amused by the BS on both sides and realize how both are lost in the complex milieu that nobody really gets until they are able to step back. But that’s corporate, and it seems to work, at about a 55% efficiency level.

…so anonymous seems you have taken to the defense (could be yourself) of the original poster who begins with “huh??, what??”, and ends with “thunk”, which already places you among defenders of the illiterate, but let’s ignore that. And then, it seems that you have taken to the defense of those who did a google search for the purpose of finding any association other than the intended association for the word viridian and found one with lawn furniture and one with a rock group. In other words, you, anonymous, have chosen to defend corporate subversives or subversive activists, and unimaginative ones. Then faced with another point of view, a reasonable point of view, you recede into a corner to pout pretending that you have concern for “the life” of someone stating the other point of view. Quite a melodramatic response, don’t you think?

To the interested observer below, if you gain self importance from reactions on the internet I feel sorry for your life.

…how ironic that it is the carpers on this thread who’s attitudes are likely poisoning the entity. find them, fire them, move forward without them. proud of my -8 rating from them so far. btw, i do not work for cgg, just an interested observer.

Seems anonymous hasn’t checked the stock price and market cap lately, and I suppose if he/him/she/whatever were at the helm it would continue to slug it out in the hopelessly stagnant geophysical services industry where price concessions rule, and if there is a profit the customer base insists tsk tsk, you must be overcharging us. By the way …The word viridian comes from the Latin word viridis, which means "green, blooming, vigorous". Viridian was first created in Paris in the mid-19th century…(excerpt). Interestingly it has a similar root to veritas. Kudos to the French for attempting an escape. Hope it is successful.
