Got the meeting notification last night and didn't even get a chance to say good morning before they went into their lay off spiel. I knew it was coming but I didn't think it was coming this soon. Good luck out there, I guess I'm thankful that I get any severance cause the job market is garbage in general

"Yep they got me yesterday. 2 days after I had a meeting with HR to discuss my paternity leave. They stone faced me as I pleaded for my job so I can support my soon to be born son."
I do not want to "like" this post as it makes me so angry that I have had to wait two days to even let it sink in. The fact that you pleaded, begged, cajoled for your position, is bad enough but then to deny you, well, this is the epitome of the worst of the worst kind of people that we now work for. I get that money needs to be saved and that they want to make their money back out of us after slicing away at our bones but this... this is the absolute lowest. I can only pray that they offered you a fantastic severance, enough to get you through your pregnancy and then some.

There were managers let go as part of this round of axing. Quite a few FRS. And yes, the meetings for union busting showed that there's no one listening. I echo the feelings of a union being needed now more than ever.
The writing unfortunately has been on the wall for a while now. With job responsibilities moving to other roles a few months ago really painted the picture of the direction the company is going. Call centers handling everything (they think they can - GOOD LUCK)
Anything in National?
Multiple FRs in one market in South Zone also got hit today. The current South Zone Director last day is end of this month.
Miami got hit
I’m an FR & I lost my job today. It was a hard morning but now I’m realizing I don’t want to be in any company that thinks any of this is ok. Good riddens
Company needs these big salaries out the door for survival
I know that I shouldn't feed the trolls, but if you think that Field Reps get "big salaries", you are an unmitigated idi0t.
And the company has plenty of money although that's now at risk with their current brilliant strategy of "fire people who know how to do the work that keeps the company in business". But if you really think so, how about we fire you and the useless suits who draw six and seven figure salaries for doing nothing at all except sinking the company, eh?
I’m a current FR. I wanna say so many expletives about the new owners. They don’t care about us at all. All they care about is money money money money. Every corporation is the same, money money money. Nielsen is no different, but the BS they feed us, especially after having meetings with us telling us to not unionize. I think we should.
Can anyone that’s been impacted checkin with their market or let us know what markets were hit?
“re: What is FR?
Field Representative - they go to the panel households.”
This is (one) of the many reasons why Nielsen is doomed.
They just have no clue … Hope Nielsen’s clients and competitors are tuning in.
We have all been waiting for the other shoe to drop. Two months ago, they changed a major process for maintaining our panelists during their tenure, and we all knew this would be nothing but bad news for the field reps. Upper leadership said “don’t fret, you are not at risk, everything is fine”. Sure enough. Here we are. When will the people with padded pockets stop lying to the people who work their tails off for minimal in return, living paycheck to paycheck IF THAT. This is disgusting behavior exhibited by the snake team per usual

Curious if you were local or national OP? With the reorg of FA it makes sense less are needed in local markets.
What is FR?
As of right now I know of two local reps and the local FM being laid off. I've heard through the grapevine that this is nationwide, just don't know how heavy the impact was. FRs have always been integral but with the latest changes, they're trying to do everything remotely for pennies on the dollar. FR job security no longer exists.
Honestly didn’t think they’d hit FRs. Not sure what market you’re in, but they always seemed short staffed and much needed.
Good luck. Glad your get money out the door. Company needs these big salaries out the door for survival
