Has anyone that was RIF’d on April 18th received their severance yet?
Also, why are laid off employees beholden to pay cycles for their severance? We’re not employees anymore. It’s not a paycheck. Some of us need this money.

RIF'd on 5/2, sent it back on 5/3, told on 5/14 it was electronic signature and had to re-do. Sent back 48 hours later, and should be deposited on 6/7.
Thank god for savings and credit cards because I was at least able to cover the mortgage and regularly scheduled auto-debit bills with savings, but IDK what people do when they don't have a few months expenses in there.
UHC also totally fu---d up my medical leave, didn't pay my PTO, didn't pay my disability so no income for 2 months because they couldn't get their po-p in a group... finally got that all squared away and fixed, and bo-m- RIF and wait for severance.
I'm grateful we have the cushion but feel terrible for all those affected that don't.
Still have not received my pay out. Called HR and was told it will be paid on 6/7... Glad they are able to hold on my money while I sit over her moneyless! HA!
My bank shows it to be deposited in the morning, May 24. That’s much sooner than I had anticipated but I did sign and submit the agreement on May 2 at 6:30 am. I received a box and returned my laptop last week, so that’s it for me.
Submitted my Severance agreement on May 2nd around 8 am-ish. Got an email for confirmation of receipt and that it would be reviewed around 8:49 am (EST). Received Severance pay today. Mind you, I always got paid on Wednesday instead of Friday with my Credit Union. It's in my account now. Be on the lookout...
I was laid off May 2, and they keep rejecting my signature saying it’s electronic, even when it’s not. They’re just stringing me along. I’m the only earner in my household, so this has been tough.
I called HR on this, was told 1-3 pay periods after they review your returned signature! Have no idea on how long it takes for them to review or WTH they are even reviewing!
It is just another accounts payable entry on the books so nothing special. Sit on it for a pay cycle or two earn some interest offset the charge on the books to tidy up the Q3 books. Be happy you are due anything severance is not required. Cash flow issues are your problem not the former employer.
It depends on the unemployment laws of your state. Some require severance to be paid immediately while other states have no strict requirements. Just like PTO, some states require employers to pay out all PTO balance while others do not. I haven’t received my severance pay yet. Hope to during the next pay cycle. Be sure to file your unemployment. I was approved last week and begin the weekly certification next week.
I was laid off in Feb, got my severance like 4 pay periods later. Very unfair.
Used to be and not sure if it changed-Mn state law if you ask for your last check the day you are laid off they must provide it to you that day. I am surprised the paperwork doesn’t have more information on when you get your paycheck. FYI-Something you can research on the internet more. I believe you had to request it that day though. My old department used to have to manually print payroll checks for that reason.
Nope haven’t received mine yet! UHG wants to hold the money as long as they can. Imagine how many millions the severance amounts too. If they can hold it for 4-6 weeks they earn interest on that money and it lowers the overall hit of the payout to the org. Just another example of this companies seedy behaviors
