Walmart: relocate lose rights

Does Walmart really think it’s a fair demand to ask their female or LGBTQ+ employees to relocate to a state that would take away the reproductive rights and where the Governor has stated that it’s alright to discriminate against LGBTQ+ population?

To ask employees to move to a state that would deny them health care or other freedoms; when there is a local regional office that they could work from; is a clear statement

The point here is missed. The problem with moving to bentonville is that Walmart has no loyalty to anything or anyone. Would Walmart give you a 5 or 10 year guarantee you would have a job? You could move there and then 6 months later be laid off. On top of that, They much prefer the non US consultants from India because it costs them less. If you’re a professional person with a college degree, moving to bentonville lowers your value and your ability to bounce back should something happen. There’s not a lot of professional and high end jobs there. You’ll be stranded without a lot of options. And trust me on this, they would not care one iota that you relocated there just for Walmart.

I moved from Arizona to Bentonville and it was a culture shock, a big one. As other posters say, if you go outside Bentonville you will find a very backward culture, they are stuck in 1960s. I would not live there again, it's just not worth it. If you are an exec and making a ton of money, I guess you can justfy it to an extent but for all of mortals it's not a solution.

Not only is Bentonville small and lacking numerous amenities and attractions, Arkansas as a whole is an extremely biased and racist state. Planted firmly in civil war mentality, a manager called me a Yankee to my face. The relocation states firmly Bentonville as the location to move, which has a median home price of 450,000, therefore, only executives can afford this relocation. If you can live a few people to a small apartment, you might be able to put up with it for a few years if you are not an executive. As software engineering jobs have been outsourced overseas, they are a choice so longer or scarcely available for the US citizens. The original poster is correct in their statements, no matter how much you choose to belittle them or put your head in the sand and disbelieve them. I’ve been there, lived it, been a victim of the bias and hatred that exists in Arkansas, and wouldn’t recommend a move there unless you are already in upper management and do not step foot outside of the tiny and limited city of Bentonville. Even though I will get over it and move on, the fact remains that there are truths to be told that should not be ignored from a company that proclaims to be the nation’s largest employer. They set an extremely poor example for the rest of the world.

GTFO you don’t have to move and they don’t have to pay you either. Get over yourself

Oh, brother. WTF cares. That’s pretty low on the concern list right now. True, anyone that voluntarily moves to Bentonville should have their heads examined. It’s a toilet bowl and getting stuck there for years is not a solution for anything. Anyone hung up in the ‘move to Bentonville or leave Walmart’ decision should simply leave Walmart.
