How many are in IDE IDT ?
2000-2500 is the estimated number of roles impacted.
@dtyd+1syCLifr - so the whole number of people working for IDT/IDE is only 2000-2500? Or that is only the number of Impacted roles
Looks like Shell is playing Squid Game for step 1 and step 2 this season.
No offense taken. Our leaders have not done a good job of positioning us to win with the businesses we support. And those who do win, the high performers with history of delivering value, have roles impacted as cease to exist.
There will be 700-800 roles for roughly 2000-2500 people. Not that big of a reduction honestly.
But wait! There is a step two for those who make it through step one. But they won’t tell us what that means yet.
Those who are safe now can be impacted later.
No offense for IDT/IDE folks. But sheer insanity for Shell to balloon an organization like this. No revenues and no real business plan. Yet any time stuff numbers come up - it's all about excessive "subsurface" staff. So many leeches on the body of the workforce that's actually tending to real revenues.

step 2 is rumored to be bigger and yes you can be impacted in both step 1 and step 2
Will there be another group in step 2? Or is this the total number?
According to the folks who joined the first IDT webcast, there will be around 800 roles in the MOR.
6% impacted roles in India and 17% UK/NL/US.

Both groups fall under what you would traditionally think of as IT or Information Technology.
Sorry for needing to ask, but can someone spell out the acronyms used for these groups? Been with Shell for 15 years and I’ve never heard of these groups. Don’t mean to be insensitive. I’d just like to follow this thread better.

I’ve worked at Shell for just over two decades and have no idea what IDT, IDE, etc. even do! Sorry, but sounds like a ripe target for deep cuts.
The list was just sent to us from HR. No idea who put it together or what data they used to make the list.
who created this list ? what are the areas impacted most / less ?
Manager here with a list of people in my team on the impact list. They told us we didn't have to notify people not impacted. I think that is not nice though as people will be wondering. Most other managers I know and I did notifications on the very first day so if you haven't been notified and your manager is not out or anything then you probably are safe this round. I had a conversation with everyone on my team and told those safe that they didn't need to worry this round. I think that is the right thing to do. If impacted you are supposed to be notified by end of day May 24th. Embargo is lifted May 27th and webcast is May 28th. I think most of the hit in step one is to IDE and step 2 will be IDT and IDE
Nothing yet. I'm in the UK in IDT. They said earlier in the month layoffs were happening in IDT very solemnly. They said between 16th- 23rd we'd be notified. Apparently some people have already been told but I haven't directly spoken to anyone about it. My CC lead and manager don't know much, at least they said - but on Thursday my CC lead asked for some specs on my work. I was hoping they'd let us know early, but I think it'll be next week. I'm JG5 UK.
Do you guys think it was necessary, every time I hear people speak about idt , they speak about the number of managers and layers of people doing « nothing »… idt grew to fast and a lot of people sitting on the bench because skills are limited
How do they decide who is mapped and who is not?
Some are mapped and safe and others have to apply in MOR in July.
Does everyone have to apply through MOR or are you placed?

Yes, all hubs are impacted.it is a bloodbath.

Sorry to hear this folks. Just wrapped up our own reorg in a different area of the company. About 25% reduction. Brutal. I really feel for everyone impacted here.
