Thread regarding Dish Network layoffs

Get out while you can...

This is a sinking ship, on top of the operational expenses being cut, the business is a failure. Quarter after quarter there is an increase in the loss of subscribers across all channels, increases in fraud and churn, and an increase in the failed marketing spend.

Even if you were still under the delusion that this company wasn't going bankrupt in the near future, the management should send you running for the hills. It has become clear that embodying the "DISH Way" is really just being okay being micromanaged, expecting that the company will make radical shifts without giving you any reason, and having a positive attitude about the id--tic decisions leadership makes in an effort to right the ship.

I say this to all employees of DISH, Echostar, and Hughes, look for new jobs while you still have one, and do not believe the lie that Charlie and Hamid can combat all the obstacles facing them.

I think they will wait as long as they can to file bankruptcy, with the hope that they can pull off some kind of funding miracle. It seems that bankruptcy is inevitable at this point, they're the only ones that won't say it out loud.

Why do not they announce a BK now then if a negative quarter was predicted? What is the point of waiting? Anyone think they will announce a potential BK in the last moment?

"Anyone else thinks DISH can get the funding needed for Q4 operations and to pay off the debts in November? When does Q4 start?"

No. Nobody believes that Dish will secure the funding. They've already said they will operate in the negative for the rest of the year. Who's going to loan money to a company that does that? It's bad business. They won't be able to pay it back. Dish is headed for bankruptcy.

And Q4 starts in October.

Is dish trying to bring all WAH employees for customer service back on site? What about those who are not within the site location?

Anyone think customer service will be on site only? Has WAH for call centers been along for a long time? Anyone think WAH will stop to help save money?

That is correct, no severance. One final paycheck on 6/11…..I worked here for 15+ years and gave my blood, sweat, and tears for Mr. Charlie Ergen and this what I get…3 weeks notice to find a different source of income….no thank you and no nothing for my years of service and selling soundbars to people who didn’t need it to keep the company afloat.

Thanks for posting the letter. So you are expected to work until 6/11 and the only severance you get is benefits until 6/30, nothing else. Did I read that right?

About 13 techs, 2 managers and 2 warehouse employees, not a wireless site. They might close other sites here in CA. We just have to wait and see. Start looking for other jobs asap.

Dish just announced today, they will be closing a site in Manteca, CA next month, and will sub the work to linkuscorp. All techs and managers will be on payroll till 6/11 and on the same day, linkus will have a meeting to hire any techs or managers that want to stay and work for them on a piece rate type of deal. This is the dish way, 3 weeks notice to look for another job.

We haven't seen a lot of Remote work for awhile. Some of the remote postings were Sales position postings. We were wondering that maybe DISH will not continue with WFH for call centers in the future to help reduce costs. We have seen on-site call center postings so far. So far with call center postings being on-site only, would it make sense to do WFH later too? We will see and keep checking the jobs page.

Check the actual job posting you're considering applying for. Call center jobs are mostly WFH; most other corporate roles inc. engineering are full time in office. With in office roles, don't expect to be able to negotiate hybrid -- it doesn't happen, and there's badge tracking to prevent individual managers from looking the other way.

And isn’t it interesting that the people left in leadership positions on the wireless side all worked at Sprint…and what happened to that company?

No notice…just laid off/walked out same day…but they kept me on payroll for ~3 more weeks, so I would get 1 more month of benefits…oh yea, and if I signed saying I wouldn’t sue them, they’d give me 2 weeks pay…seriously? Needless to say, I didn’t sign…haven’t sued…yet!

Were you given a notice period before being laid off or just laid off? How did you find out?

Dish is the best what? I was laid off in November…there was NO severance. I was told my position was being eliminated, but within a month someone was brought in to do my exact job. They have NO money, and rumors of bankruptcy, yet the wireless leaders are traveling all over the country attending industry rah-rah conferences that, trust me, accomplish nothing. It’s annoying and angers me daily as I try to find a new job, but in this market it’s impossible…call me bitter, but please…….
