Thread regarding Nielsen layoffs

Annual hikes for june

Can we expect timely annual appraisal hikes in June 2024 ? I have heard everything else in Townhall except this.

Manager email sent today: supposedly merit increases ARE coming but figures won’t be revealed until later in summer

Right now, no idea about percentage. No idea if it’s nielsen wise or by department. No idea if one’s last review affects this percentage.

In midst of hiring spree, no word on appraisals.

I am sure this lack of clarity will make new joinees also run away as plenty of good opportunities are in market.

don’t forget Nielsen now likes to give merit increases and then lay you off immediately after.

I remember when we used to get Merit increases on the regular in March; a few weeks after your prior year review. Tying back merit to recent performance is management 101. Now we wait a minimum of 9 months. Currently it’s been stretched to a few years and the increases are weak and not meaningful.

"I think next merit review is in October actually ..."

Yeah, usually something casually announced in October ... processes of adding your accomplishments up until December ... management review for the next 2 months ... sign offs on paperwork for another 1.5 months ... then MAYBE a $0.20 raise by the end of summer, and that's not even a guarantee.

Many years this has been a "Sorry, but due to changes in the market, we cannot give a raise because of XYZ."

Wish I was kidding, but Nielsen's priorities are not to give people more $$$. YMMV, but I seriously doubt it.

I suspect any raises will be ones mandated per country labor laws and not a percentage more.

I think next merit review is in October actually. The old timelines in June seem to be in the past.

Yeah there will be.

You’ll be going from $6.85 an hour to $6.92, but will need to accept a 100% increase in responsibility for accepting.

You do the conversion, rising star.

I doubt there will ever be hikes for the US based analysts again, if any of us survive the move to GCCs.

You’re seriously at the wrong company if you want annual increases to be a normal thing.

There’s a reason why they’re never discussed, and even when they are it’s a “maybe sometime next September 2025 we’ll be reviewing it” kinda communication.

Run Forest Run! It’s not too late.
