BNSF level of thinking, lay-off 1599 then tell everyone see that statement was false, you should have asked us for the official number, but we are being as transparent as we always have, and as always we care, just keep watching

BNSF is using job consolidation as a strategy to justify layoffs, perhaps claiming there are too many people for certain roles. They’ve consolidated at least 10 jobs at our location

Argentine DSF got calls from Fort Worth two nights in a row telling them not to arrive anything more until after midnight saying they were over the number of units for the day. They are only allowed to release X amount daily. I don’t think it was a rumor. Today was damage control. They’re making us look less productive than we are to justify layoffs.

Since when is BNSF transparent, government had to create the FRA and NTSB just to try and get them to do right…sometimes, and I’m pretty sure the contractual agreement thing is a crock, it takes the lights almost getting turned off before they pay a bill

How might an operations officers or foreman’s talking points end up on here except by a foreman or company officer attempting to do damage control….tells me there was a whole lot of truth to the original post that forced the companies hand to try and get out ahead of bad messaging, and prevent craft blowback, seems like the company got caught doing shady cr-p and irresponsibly had to try and cover it, but if you read between the lines, it seems like it’s still on the table hence that 3rd point

Seems like damage control and bs trying to smooth over what got leaked, but I do like that 3rd bullet like we will continue to adjust like it’s on the table but can’t admit that we planned on doing so

BNSF RAILWAY
Talking Points: Speculation about potential
BNSF layoffs untrue
Operations supervisors,
The following are talking points that may help you in your daily conversations with team members who may have questions or concerns after seeing a recent social media post that inaccurately speculated on the potential for future layoffs:
• BNSF is aware of a false and misleading post circulating on social media that claims we are planning to lay off 1,600 employees in June. This is completely untrue and has no basis in fact, nor was there a meeting in Fort Worth to discuss this matter.
• We value our employees and their contributions to our company, and we are committed to providing them with fair and competitive compensation and benefits. BNSF has no intention of avoiding its contractual obligations or depriving employees of their earned vacation time.
• As always, we continually evaluate our operations and will adjust our resources to meet the needs of our customers and the market, but we do so in a responsible and transparent manner.
• We urge our employees to disregard this false and irresponsible post and rely on official sources of information from BNSF.

I do not believe anything from any company officer, they are all mindless blowhards willing to lie and regurgitate whatever lie is told to them to satisfy their bosses need to sc--w over crafts so they can get their ever important bonuses at the end of the year, the whole I want to change the company for the better mentality is just a fairy tale they go home and beat it too before they come back to a job where they lie to every persons face they work with because their boss told them too. At this point every foreman and above is simply a liar for a bonus, and the only thing any of us can hope for is some craft member eavesdropping on power calls, ear hustling convos or phone calls that will let slip the truth so that the rest of us can know the real situation and truth after the fm, agf, gf, sup, etc finish lying to us like the railroad ever had secrets that didn’t eventually come to light

Argentine has been going downhill ever since Edmundo was there. Darnell isn’t worth a sh-t either. The guy is never there and nothing but cuts have happened. We lost most of our pipefitters and boilermakers with machinists and electricians expected to do the work with no training. Safety doesn’t matter anymore, shop is filthy, never have parts, not enough people to man units for repairs or inspections. Laborers are taking our dsf over and committing tons of safety infractions. They took away any incentive to work for this company anymore and wonder why nobody will apply. I’m looking for other jobs myself

It's anonymous. No one really knows until we get that call. Until then, I'm not gonna stress. Not much we can do except what? Blame the local supervision? They have less control then we do. We can actually vote and we F that up....so.....

Pretty sure Demond got his job took by Soto, so now it’s a how can I make Soto look bad on the mechanical side, I know, let’s claim everything is about safety while ensure no locomotives run, less freight gets moved, create an artificial dip this quarter, lay-off people, then next quarter go back to normal so he can say look at what all I did to bring back all this profit back while collecting a fat safety bonus at the expense of workers who they really could care less about

Laborers in Alliance are doing much more than the basic stuff on the service track. Only a matter of time before somebody gets hurt.
The backstabbing has only begun.
No solidarity among any unions.

Local managment has no power and no capabilities to make any choices.
CMOs will continue to cut whatever they have to just to please those stockholders, straight out of Demond's mouth at our unofficial townhall.
It's going to get way worse, before it ever gets better. They'll strip it to the bones then keep picking.

They are putting the hammer down.... They will turn Railroad jobs into jobs that Americans won't want to do, especially the younger generation. Then they will fill the ranks with non citizens. Your unions will be over.

If you want to see truth, look in your myshop accounts, go under the tabs that list your shop, it will will allow you to pull down and see every other shop, Dash9 locomotives currently being sent to layup yards, mods are being sent to scab shops to be performed, and shops like corwith, temple, havre, tulsa, are building large hospital trains to be sent to other big shop locations, with train high horsepower being yard turned because there is no high horsepower units to replace what they ran off, results in decreased shop count numbers, decreased productivity, and purpose driven and intentional actions to reduce freight numbers and profit numbers to justify furloughing a large number of workers…forest through the trees, purposely lower profits in a particular quarter to get a massive boost in profits and bonuses in the next by reducing cost, short term bump on paper….the seasonal UP way

I heard at the beginning of March they let people keep working after being told they were getting furloughed in Lafayette due to road trucks being brought back to shops where they hold seniority, so people they were bumping off the seniority rosters had 30 days advanced warning they were getting furloughed….they whole no one ever knows is either a management argument to keep people working or one of their cronies they swallow everything they say because management is always honest with their people….how ironic

Well, for those who think they never give you a heads up on layoffs that is not true. Most likely they won’t but when our shop had reduction of force a few years ago our Union gave us a 2 week notice. Our Union leaders know….. So maybe start knocking on their door to start asking for facts!

Corwith here. We’ve had soooo many people quit our mechanical department in the last 3 years they’ve literally abolished 3rd shift at our shop. Our service track has just implemented wheel readings on all units that are here for repairs or that we bad order on the service track. Fort Worth has deferred all “heavy” work and we no longer repair teir 4 locomotives. We are building “hospital” trains daily to defer most of our bad order units to other shops.

Ok let’s analyze, cab carpenters have been having their jobs cut for years whether abolished or Carmen cuts in general, laborers have been taking over service racks and fuel racks system wide and are being trained to perform FRA inspections for SFS and SML inspections system wide, which means laborers performing inspections to find defects that they really have no clue what to look for is the company’s way of cutting other mechanical craft, because less defects found means less mechanical staff needed to fix the problems. Every region has a CMO and they regularly meet to decided how to implement company initiatives system wide. Pipe fitters have been getting reduced, as a matter of fact every layoff catches them just a little bit more, their days are numbered. So how ever many get furloughed at this point, it’s been no secret since March, more were coming, no one knew how many or what the game plan might be, but rest assured the company was pushing for 12 hour shifts for a reason to locals, which means they were already planning large cuts to include cutting shops with 3 shifts down to 2, and mechanical was going to be overwhelmingly their next target. Any person who argues those points is a du----s or a company spoke’s person looking to do damage control now that the cats out the bag

Ok let’s analyze the post
BNSF announces: they don’t ahead of time
CMOS: there is only one Chief mechanical officer
Pipefiters: are officially Sheet Metal Workers
Cab Carpenters: are not a craft they are Carmen with a job they bid that’s a Cab Carpenter.
Sounds like an id--t craft worker stirring sh-t cause he should be laid off first cause he’s a worthless pu-e.
