CREDIT OBSESSION!

ls this form of "bullying" happening in any other store?: Basically, everyone's name is on the board, and if you opened a credit last week, your name is in blue ink this week. However, if you didn't, your name is in RED ink!

Open up a case with HR and at least get it on record. HR does not want anyone addressed, reprimanded or pointed out individually. While I am not in stores my managers and directors have confirmed to me they have been told they can no longer address job performance issues individually when it is needed to rid themselves of non performers or those out of compliance in doing there job.

Yes the bullying is going on in our store. Names of those not making their numbers are posted for everyone to see, managers told to lay down the law to them. Backdoor deals being made to those who are making credit to do even more by rewarding them with extra Macy's Money. Pressure on everyone.

They harp on it because it's part of the profit. We get a kickback for any card opened and have to pay the fees anytime anyone uses another credit card

New account goals used to be based on how many opportunities a store had, meaning if customers already had a Macy's card, the manager's didn't have to worry about making an arbitrary goal. The problem for the company was that the new rules regarding fees that went into effect this year meant that the company would lose millions of dollars in Macy's card related revenue. It's bad enough that our card has the highest interest rate allowed by law, but we were also gouging our customer with high fees.

To offset the lost revenue because of the change regarding how much a company can charge for fees, we switched to the new credit goal system so we could squeeze even more out of the top performing stores. Now we are rewarding stores that had terrible results last year and have high ratios while we penalize the stores that did well last year. Now we sit on calls and watch low performing stores get celebrated because they are marginally less bad than last year, while teams in high performing locations are failing and losing interest in even trying to make the unrealistic goals.

I don't worry about credits anymore if they don't want me anymore then fire me. Then they are stuck with the id--ts that don't show up for shifts and do no side work. Im not pushing people into credit cards, I do suggest the Bronze to customers. Now they want us to be "Salespeople ". Im moved around so much i don't even know what is new off the truck. Too much to do to be personal shoppers definitely not doing that. Good luck getting people to sign onto that

At just under 32% interest, that "Star Card" is a tough sell.

My boss prints out the department list daily and circles the name of those folks with zero credits…just wasting paper but it’s effective because I hate seeing my name circled so I end up getting one so they can leave me tf alone
