During Covid, Walmart forced employees to take vaccine and quit job. Now, They laid off employees. Is there a lawsuit here ?
If you take the relo package, assuming it’s the normal package, check out the options from Arvest. They do a good job and offer pretty good rates. Walmart often pays ~$10k towards closing through them. Also, you don’t have to use the realtor assigned to you—despite what the relo team says. You can use whoever you want. I used Ravonne John for my last one. She had quick responses that were thorough and was really on top of things. I know she’s worked with other Walmart relocations.
LOL! Admin deleting ANY posts about the garbage economy this administration has caused.
Keep your heads in the sand, snowflakes. It ain’t gonna get any better.
@paulsaulpaul The Walton family's real estate holdings or personal finances are completely unrelated to Walmart. Many people misunderstand that and think the Waltons can pour their own money into the company, but that is not the case.
Does anyone know if there will be a round 2 of layoffs in the merchandising org?
Glad to see the non money makers getting the ax instead of the workers
They eliminated positions in merchandising All together. My husband and I were both impacted. I worked in merchandising and my husband at DGTC and the company cut both of our jobs.
@Pauls, with so much speculation it wouldn't have been hard to do 1 min of research and see Jim's ownership status of Arvest.
By the way, I didn't get laid off and I also haven't showed up to HO to work for over 3 years. Stapler, anyone?
Associate Merchants in produce, consumables, and larger teams in GM have been impacted. There have been a couple “one-off” layoffs that seem to be performance based. I have also heard the Fixture Implementation team was disbanded.
Anyone from E2E?
The Walton family has plenty of property to unload at the top of housing market. They probably have some deals made with local loan originators. Do they own anyone at Arvest? Walton family has to unwind their real estate positions before the coming housing market collapse. I see someone above has already encouraged the relocated to take out a loan at Arvest. Those loan originators have to to be swimming in money given the current interest rates.
Tyson family has similar problems with owning too much local real estate. But they already force relocated corporate people from Chicago, Downers Grove and Dakota Dunes back in Oct 2022.
Will anyone ever hold these families to account? How many apartment buildings to they and their cronies own? They should be investigated for making business decisions to enrich their personal books.
They laid me off and had the nerve to mention it was mental health awareness month.
What roles in merchandise has been affected?
For DGTC merch - what was your role and what department?
Heard conflicting things on the why/who is being impacted
Coworker and myself both got laid off within the same Merchandising dept in DGTC on main home office campus. On payroll until early August. Either find a different position or accept severance by that date. If taking severance, can't apply to Walmart for 2 years. Will be connected with 3rd party job search coach.
The culture is not about its people. They can fool you all they want. Why don’t they hold officers accountable for manpower and right talent. They should be fired first.
Were there any layoffs of home office employees with immediate effect?
Someone mentioned not receiving a severance? How?
Global Tech (software engineers) are also impacted, and in some locations are the bulk of those impacted. (some past layoffs have skipped over Global tech, but not this one)
Heard several HO areas will be impacted throughout the week. People that got meets or exceeds have been impacted too, as areas are also being reorganized.
Atlanta, Dallas and Toronto offices are being closed. All employees are being laid off, with some offered to relocate to Bentonville. Not all received relo offers.
Wait for your documents. Severance is available for all impacted roles. Don’t make any rash decisions that could limit your options
Seems like remote workers and anyone in the merch organization that failed to get a meets or whatever that rating is on yearly evaluation are out.
Walmart just had one of its best years on record and this is how they reward us to close out Q1? Nothing but corporate greed. Expected so much more from this company that is "people" focused.
Just had my 15 minute call with managers. Sounds like very few exceptions for remote work were made, but some were made. I wasn't one of them, as I was fully remote. I was asked to relocate to Bentonville as default, but they did say I could request relocation to Seattle or Sunnyvale but no guarantee I'll get it.
Last day would be 2nd week of Aug If I decide to not relocate and NO SEVERANCE package would be included. I'm very disappointed in that as I've been with Walmart for between 5 - 10 years.
Laid off, was fully remote since hires. No relocation offered!
Lots of associate merchants getting laid off across the org. As well, so expect your merchants to be MUCH busier now.
Is Walmart Global Tech experiencing layoffs or forced relocation to Bentonville?
I have a 15 minute meeting scheduled with management in about an hour. I'm fully remote currently in another state, but my team is based out of Sunnyvale.
It's hitting Global Tech pretty hard, it seems
Orgs across the company are handling this change differently. Some are remaining fully remote, while others now have to relocate to central hubs depending on team location. Offices remaining open include: Bay Area, Seattle, Hoboken, Bentonville
layoffs HO merchandising
What about employees in different offices? Hoboken, San Bruno, etc. Are they being forced to relocate to HO?
They offered relocation to Bentonville and will cover relocation costs. If you don't relocate, they're offering severance.
Both.
Layoffs or relocation? I’ve heard mixed.
