Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Can someone explain what is F50?

I'm a former employee and was in a local Macy's recently and there were DJs and fashion shows and just lots of stuff going on. Someone who worked there told me it's because the store is an F50. Huh?

First there was G50. Then there were "Inspiration" and "Experiential" stores. Now it's the F50. They need to pick an initiative and stick with it. smh

F50 stands for, "The 50th time". The 50th time in 10 years that the higher ups at Macy's can't get their heads out their butts to turn the company around. Instead, for the 50th time they are trying tricks and gimmicks to get more customers by ignoring the real issues. And it's the 50th time they've told the employees," We have no money for raises, but we have plenty to throw away on other cr-p".

Indianapolis store is also F50. Wish they'd replace the dated tile and reopen all the fitting rooms they closed, but at least they're trying...

I agree first thing should be a deep cleaning, throw out stinky stained rugs, I rather see polished concrete which is much more modern. The shelves have 1/4 inch of dust that looks like dirt at this point...and lets not talk about all the backrooms and closed fitting rooms that are an accident waiting to happen. Everything is filthy the only thing clean are the clothes coming off the truck. These managers walk around with blinders on smh and have no idea how to manage or train their employees..Captains are as bad as the untrained employees walking around wasting time and getting paid..not a bad deal for them. I could go on and on lol

In NJ, I think Garden State Plaza, Menlo are F50. Maybe Short Hills and Willowbrook?

A DJ? They should just replace all the lighting to make the products more appealing. Do deep cleaning, and having shelves always organized.

There are a few stores in my area of NJ that have had the DJ near the Mall entrance in Fragrances so I guess that’s a good sign. I know of a few larger high volume sites that should be good to go. There are a few in doubt in NJ and PA

F50 stores get a monthly budget for events to pay for a DJ, fragrance engraver, Prince Charming to put on shoes, fashion shows/models, kids interactive area, promo gift cards, food & beverage allowance

Uggh. I hate when we have the DJ. It’s just too loud, we have to shout at the customers for them to hear us. A customer complained on the survey it was too loud, it was hilarious…lol

F50 are the first of the stores that are being invested with more staffing, updated visual packages and get tested with new standards. What ever "works" at those locations will be rolled out to the other going forward stores in the future.

First 50 - go forward stores, exempt from closing anytime soon

Focus 50. They get the best of everything as the most important stores in the fleet with the most growth potential.

The rest of the stores get the leftovers or are on the 150 closing lists.
