Timeframe for Clinton move

Its on the news that the closure is to be done by 2028. However, we just heard from our DH that staff move should be completed by end of 2025, with only rare exceptions. What the heck is that?!! Are management sh-----g us?

If you work in an office using your computer without needed on-site equipment you are moving by next summer. All the new PhDs were being hired into Houston and half of many departments are already there.

It’s funny how Clinton people thought they were unaffected when the Fairfax location shut down and they were above all this. No tears were shed then. But there was always a plan to eventually move Clinton and there is even a space cleared out for another building on the Houston campus that was never built and never likely will be.

How could anyone not see this train coming from a mile awhile especially since Covid and the migration of jobs to KLTC and BTC.

If you are in the Clinton Union, please know that you are an afterthought unfortunately. Here at ExxonMobil we take care of the talent.

They are getting ready for the move from clinton to emhc and btec. planners and project leads will be visiting the sites for the movement. emhc is starting on science 1 remodel asap. BTEC east RBB will be demolished asap to make way for the pilot plants from clinton. plan is some movements in years 2025, 26 and final 2027. The mpts can come anytime and wait for the builds to finish. this is just the beginning europe is next soon and then finally usa. It makes economic sense as hourly rate in india 70 usd/hour vs usa 350 usd billed hour.

“Are they shi**ing us”.
Happens all the time. It is somewhat hard to believe before it hits you or your business unit. But suffice it to say - they ARE. Everywhere they can.

Agree. Also, the in-house custom designed and built unit prior to the DCR was a disaster.

We buy DCR's and other units because the project(s) can be capitalized, not because it is the right decision for our affiliates. It is far more cost effective to outsource pilot plants to companies like hTE Gmbh, C Solutions, Grace Davison, BASF, Albemarle, Southwest Research Institute.... etc.

When will we ever learn that 3rd parties can do the work much more cost effectively and accurately than in-house operations

Why wouldn’t it be shipped to Houston?

That multi-million dollar DCR unit is also a huge waste. It was only started last year

OP the money they spent on the automotive lab was a huge waste. That move from Paulsboro took a few years.
I really don't think they will make that mistake again since there are two of the biggest 3rd party automotive labs right in San Antonio, these are labs that we are currently spending millions in testing. Bench testing, analytical and blending can be moved at a faster pace.
Having said that, it will certainly make the move go faster then initiallyexpected.
If they need you, they will offer you the world but keeping their word after you get there will be another story.
Good luck to you all.

Second that OP is a troll.

If you were there for the call and went to your section's meetings, and the follow-up meetings, many things were spelled out quite clearly. Perhaps OP is the press and they want to publish a piece for NJ.com?

BS. It was a botched communication by the President but at least the timing was clear the same afternoon in the follow up meeting. OP is a troll.

Pilot plant can be moved. They were from Baton Rouge, EMPR, anyway

OP
Depends a lot on what you do in Clinton. When they have moved other sites, they have moved MPTs anywhere from 3 months after the announcement to 24 months. It had a lot to do with your job.

OP,

Wage or salary? Used to work there. Interested in hearing what Clinton is being told about timeliness? Have there been any official communications about move benefits
