Several people on my team were changed to telecommute when they moved outside the radius our division set for having to return for the 3 days last year (30 miles). In talking with them, there’s been no downside..their pay and band geo code was not lowered and we got the same raise percent (which really means they got a bigger raise because they dont commute or pay for parking). Im thinking of doing the same when my lease is up.
Does anyone know of any HR or other policies or checks that would cause a problem? Has anyone else done this and can share advice or experience? There’s no bigger chance of layoff if you’re remote, right?
Before someone says just quit and look for a remote job, sure but why when I’m happy on my team and role? I don’t see a downside?
My remote teammates are so much happier and just as or more productive. I’m surprised more people are not doing this because Truist has not said anything about location strategy or plans to phaseout remote teammates.
