Thread regarding VMware layoffs

What kind of severance did folks get?

I didn't make it when the acquisition was finalized, but it'd be nice to know if I'm better off with what I received versus what I would have gotten had I been laid off while at Broadcom.

European employment law sounds nice.

I took the package and I'm glad. Avoided driving an hour each way to an office to make Zoom calls.

There’s no Broadcom vs VMware severance difference because any VMware employee laid off in 2024 gets the VMware package. Any Broadcom employee laid off gets the Broadcom package. If you’re a VMware employee still with Broadcom, you’ll have to wait until after 11/2024 to regret not getting axed sooner.

The VMW separation policy remains intact for one year post acquisition.

Depends on countries, tenure and salaries generally. Money is not everything, you saved yourself some neurones and emotional roller coaster. It does not have a price
