Thread regarding Nielsen layoffs

Nielsen replacing multiple $60k+ salaries with a single $12 hr offshore worker

With everyone either leaving or being let go departments are in ruin ... but work still needs to get done ... so the circus leadership is trying to put the work onto the existing staff to save on salaries, or "promote" the offshore workers into these lead positions.

Thing is these "promotions" come without any additional pay(!) so you have numerous $40k - $60k+ US positions being offloaded onto someone offshore making barely $25k (2080 working hrs in a year x $12 = $24,960).

Stay strong to those still here, refuse to train these replacements, and refuse to accept anything else over your basic duties. Ride it out until the severance kicks in and never look back.

“I spoke to a Mexico hire. He is getting 9.00 an hour no bonus structure. I hope Nielsen Clients get wind of all these Americans getting let go for India and Mexico employees. I truly hope clients get wind.”

That much? He must be a TL. Lol.

Clients could care less as they’re doing the same. When one offshores they all catch the greedy wind and start following suit. Can’t condemn a company when you’re also doing the same.

The media world in general is a horrible space to be in, across the board, and nowhere I will ever return to. It’s full of sc-mmy marketers and KR and DK types who try to make you believe the world is hanging on their latest insight or campaign - when we all know their just used car lot sales types trying to get your attention and spending dollars.

They make realtors look honest and upstanding.

"refuse to train these replacements" -- wouldn't this cause me to be fired for cause, without severance?

Honestly folks if you're stressing out about losing a job that pays you $40 to $60k, just quit and do something far less stressful for almost the same money. Ex: I know someone who makes friggin $50K a year in the gig economy and acts as their own boss. Sure, not reliable work but no stress. You can also sell darn TV's at PC Richards and make more than some Nielsen folks. Go out and smell the coffee.

When you find the same item at a cheaper price you buy it, that is what is happening across the US. The brain drain started a long time ago, it seems like the highly skilled Indian moves to the US but it the other way around they move here and teach and inspire 1000s of them in India and reverse happens. I work in Tech and I have been with Nielsen for almost a decade, I have not worked with a single person other than Indian. They are skilled and willing to do it for a lower price. Also the other Indians mostly on visas are extremely hard working and very loyal also because how the laws in this country around visas are, people can’t switch jobs on visa easily. They may not look smart but most are very hard working and investors are smart to realize that. $12 or $10 goes a long way in India not here in the US

Maybe as a lead they get $12? As a regular employee they get minimum (US) wage to maybe $8 or $9. Either way it's a disgrace ... and remember these hedge fund owners are worth hundreds of BILLIONS, with zero regard for any worker, especially their disposable India crew.

$12 is too high. I know Nielsen pays low even for India (people in India that have left Nielsen have gotten about 50% raise overall at other companies). Currently, the pay is about $9-$12k per year.

$12 an hour seems generous, I don’t think my replacement is even getting that much.
