Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Bosses mandated them back to the office. They took legal action instead.

People are finding ways around the 5 day in the office mandate. Some are swiping their badges and rolling out the door.

Kim Hock Un said back to office. What is hard to understand. This is a dictatorship not a place to perform the Socratic method.

…yeah sorry, I didn’t work in the office 5 days a week before the rona, did t work in the office 5 days during the rona, not doing it now. When you are the only one from your team in a state, there is no logical reason to come to the office… collaboration? With whom? Random sales people that don’t even come to the office 80% of the time?

If multiple people on a team are in the same city and they actually have a need to collaborate then I understand going to the office a few days a week. Else it’s a null pointer.

"I’m hearing that there is an exit from VMW plan for Broadcom that was developed in secret that involved “only” taking around a 10b loss."

You know nothing, and you certainly don't know Hock Tan.

Agreed with original post.
Companies should fire employees without giving them any reason.
Its at will employment and wfh due to covid is our past.
5 days in office for full pay.

Prefacing this with… NOT A VMware guy.

Despite the trolls, us Broadcom folk don’t like HT either, but we like his RSUs and a lot of us have enough not to care about getting a paycheck at this point, lol.

I’ve been on a few calls that HT was on this week… He’s trying to play it cool and act like he has some sort of control, but he's underwater and somehow also on fire.

The kicker — not a single person on these calls has any sympathy for him. When the RSUs dry up the wolves will still be hungry, there will be a massive sell off when the stock starts to drop and things will change or Broadcom will die.

I’m hearing that there is an exit from VMW plan for Broadcom that was developed in secret that involved “only” taking around a 10b loss. We’ll see.

5 days in office for full pay.

Thanks for your contribution, you have clearly learned nothing.

7 days in the field and child labor! That was the norm and should always be!!!
