Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Outsourcing and layoffs ?

I have been hearing rumors about outsourcing? Department team being asked to remain calm but yet being asked to look at new career paths ? Very confusing and misleading? Don’t want to leave without a job since I will not get unemployment if I leave on my own but it’s mentally challenging to sit and wait with no communication.

“chatgpt?” You better wake up NOW to what AI is going to lead to. It will be YOUR JOB.

It happened in wealth and Joe moved on to do it to the next group he is over. I would expect layoffs to continue. In wealth the only ones not touched was managers and supervisors. What do you do with a company of managers that have no reports? Why are they keeping leadership that gets paid the big bucks? I don’t see that sustainable for long even if they are offshoring and outsourcing the ones that actually do the work.

Apparently our senior management has fully accepted the fact they are too incompetent to manage anyything and thus outsourced the majority of their responsibilities to BCG, McKinsey, Accenture ad nauseum to manage for them.

The company could save even more if the Executive Council Clown Car was replaced by chatgpt as it could execute the same strategy without Salary, Bonuses, and the rest of the perks enjoyed by the golden circle.

The strategy of allowing (at least in the IT space) people with institutional knowledge and understanding help guide future direction and change, we instead have resorted to the alternative philosophy of if you throw an infinite number of monkeys an infinite number of keyboarsds, one day before the end of eternity, one of them will author the works of Shakespeare. Inertia and the Feds will likely keep the ship from totally capsizing, but it will be battered by the waves as those lucky enough to escape to the lifeboats of TIH continue on.

More planned in the EDA space. Not sure if it's really "layoffs" since we've immediately posted to (re-)fill many of the positions after clearing the decks. Before you say it's a cost saving measure, it isn't. Several are actually getting paid more than previous associates. It was a realization that the group was full of campers from hBBT that knew nothing about data. Or IT. Or Excel.

All the hBBT teammates left long ago. This is all on you, hSTers!

The newly established GCO (under Joe T) is now doing skills assessments to figure out who to layoffs and cut this summer. Other lines of business will be doing their skills assessments soon too. “Strategic workforce planning”.

People are leaving in large numbers, particularly hBBT teammates. They are finding jobs that are better than their current jobs. The knowledge continues to flow out and SunTruist doesn’t care.

I’d focus on the “look for a new career path”. It seems straightforward to me? The remain calm portion is just good advice in general.

Unpleasant Truth: If you aren't an Indian, you don't belong at Truist.

Unemployment pays peanuts. The homeless couldn’t survive on it. Take control of your life and start interviewing.
