Thread regarding VMware layoffs

You can tell many of the posts here are not written by grown ups.

Reading these 'shocker' headlines about people being let go, the latest wave of layoffs, support being outsourced etc etc, screams lack of knowledge about how many employee protections you actually have whilst living in the EU.

Yes, even whilst working for an American company.

Broadcom can't just up and decide it's going to cut x number of jobs here. They'd be sued to kingdom come and back.

Broadcom can't let you go the same day in the EU. There are many long and legal processes to adhere to.

Broadcom doesn't abuse it's staff in the EU. This isn't APAC or the US.

These words might be hard to read, but they are indeed fact.

Yeah posts by other obvious Americans are embarrassing. There are many resources available to explain why the market cap of EU companies are so much smaller. The U.S. is a SINGLE market that is quite large. It’s easy to grow a company without as much red tape as there is in the EU before or while going global. Each EU member state has its own regulatory and compliance requirements. Even with the layoffs, some had better protections than others but they all had better protections than the US. Name call all you want and shame the market caps of their companies but don’t be ignorant and ignore the fact their employee protections are WAY superior than ours.

And here we see laid bare the intelligent limits of the average American. Their only response to a factual statement is name calling, something they seem to think is abusive?

Ukraine.
Laggard.
Beta.

Great minds. The best minds. Yuge.

Smug Europeans like this guy never created a successful tech company.

Market cap of GRANOLAS is 3 trillion USD which is the value of either Microsoft or Apple individually.

Meanwhile total market cap of the magnificent 7 is about $13 trillion.

The total market cap of the six European countries (France, Switzerland, Denmark, United Kingdom, Germany, and Netherlands) is approximately $13 trillion

So 7 public US companies are valued the same as all publicly traded companies in 6 major European companies.

Someone has been spending too much time looking at their belly button lint.

Smug Europeans like this guy never created a successful tech company. They hide behind antiquated employment laws that protect lazy retired-in-place workers who lack the motivation to be successful at anything. Useless good-for-nothing laggards.

and why are you here? You can go back to your own dysfunctional EMEA and leave the rest of us alone. If EMEA is so great, go fund and solve Ukarine yourself. Grown up my a-s. Why do we Americans pay taxes to fund solutions for your problems.
