Thread regarding Walgreens layoffs

How many of the laid off AI folks already found jobs, 2+ months out?

How has the job search been like? Have you already landed a new position in the AI realm? What was the journey like?

It's tough - time just flew by. Two months of the paid salary and the severance just went by in a flash. I was barely able to talk to one recruiter every 2 weeks. Tweaked my resume/linkedin at least 10-times, even got professional help. I have only been able to talk to a 1 hiring manager in 2 months. Not sure if it's me or the market right now.

How are the rest faring?

I got a new job, but it’s below what I think of as my level and it was with a company that I got a referral to from a current employee. It’s a complete crapshoot unless you know somebody, and hit or miss even then. The market is BRUTAL right now. I’ve never seen it like this.

It’s definitely the market - so many layoffs lately that there’s more people looking for jobs than what is available, especially in tech

So sorry to hear you’re dealing w this!! It’s pretty tough out there- but at some point, the right thing will come along for you. If you’re a male, it’s going to take a bit longer. If you’re a caucasian male, even a little longer.

To that, if you worked under Brewer, it might be worth checking out her comments in a 2015 CNN interview. Pessina and the Board knew exactly who and what they were bringing in and who was going to be hurt.

Regardless- chin up! Whatever is down the road for you is better than the he77 hole you were in! Again- the RIGHT thing will come your way!!!
