Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Anyone do Redployment?

Curious if anyone that participated in redeployment has actually been offered a spot? They said they were placing 2 out of 3 people that were let go...... I'm not seeing anyone getting offers. A friend today was told that 4,141 people applied for the same spot she applied for..... feels like a complete joke.

No preference or pressure to hiring managers - it’s meant to skip the line/process which can push redeployed candidates to the front of the line. Company wants to make sure redeployed candidates are reviewed as long as they meet the basic requirements - even if other candidates are at the final stages. //

Question for anyone in TA - is there anyy preference given to redeployment candidates versus other internal candidates, or is it only the ability to move faster through the process and skip the initial HR interview? Are hiring managers told to give preference to redeployment candidates over another candidate, all else equal?

Post FMLA placement isn't a redeployment. It's you being put in a job anywhere in the company like they are required to do per FMLA. 2 out of 3 redeployment us a 100000% lie. 1st, job hiring process by Optum SOP can not possibly happen within 2 weeks (apply, 2 interviews min, offer). 2nd, I was informed by 2 People Team/redeployment team people this statistic is not tracked. Which means they truly don't track it, or, its too cr-ppy so they will never report it.

I was redeployed but declined the offer was on FMLA this week and sounds like my manager ended my time a day early

I’ll likely have to file a case blatant attack

To the poster that said they RIF’d all the tenured, highest-paid employees. Not accurate. I know of several, personally that in fact stayed. Whether they do long-term is another question, but as of 5/2 they were kept over employees paid less and with significantly less tenure.
In some cases I’m sure it was true. But, my guess is some were kept to avoid lawsuits due to age, etc.

Sure did. I got “re-deployed” to the unemployment line! The whole thing is a joke. Seriously folks-they laid off the most tenured and highest paid employees, they don’t want us back too costly. They want young people willing to work for way less than what I was making. Absolutely disgusting! Good riddance Optum! Your day is coming with all the lawsuits and investigations….. hmmm maybe we all should call the DOJ and share what we know??

Working in TA, I've placed several redeploys across a few different businesses. I will say we have a tremendous push on this end to review redeploys first, and they even skip interviews with us as long as they meet the qualifications.

Heck no! If we go for redeployment and they offer - and you don’t take it (even at a paycut or benefits/schedule/etc loss) they won’t pay your severance.

Im Not risking my severance to work for a company that already told me they would rather pay me to leave- than keep me.

No thanks. If I can’t find anything else ima few months- maybe I’ll apply for something else within UHC… every place I work gets bought by them anyway. 4 for 4 companies now- enough that I have twice as many years working for Optum, then I’ve ever actually worked for Optum…

I’ll take their money, and make career decisions based on my own worth/wants/needs. But I won’t sacrifice severance so they can stick me somewhere and then fire me in a few months with no severance. I’ve watched this company my whole career- I know their game.

So far, no. Most of the job REQs seem to be tailored to a specific person so it would be nearly impossible to check all of the boxes and even score an interview. At least for the majority that I have seen. In talking to my redeployment coach, I was told that due to it being so competitive, the recruiters won’t even consider you if you don’t meet both required and preferred qualifications.

I was redeployed. Fortunately, they reached out to me. Several of my peers let go and management asked me to interview for a certain position. I didn’t even know the position existed or that my position was in jeopardy. It ended up being a lateral move. No pay or benefit increase but I stay employed.
