Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Optum shedding contracts 2024

Look it up yourself for some of you "know it alls". What does this mean? Figure it out people. No contracts equal No jobs. Not sure why leadership isn't discussing with teams. So sad but I'm betting a massive layoff or RIF again. July is probable. Many contracts should have been either renewed , extended, or unfortunately canceled. Leadership wake up and get off your lazy as$e$ what do you people do for 8 hours that is contributing to the welfare of your teams you supposedly manage? Disgrace. You only worry about yourselves and definitely not your teams

Can confirm from a reliable source— they are coming. No surprise. We should all be able to read between the lines at this point

@rvu+1sjyXlsq,
I think this thread is about UHC/Optum clients not renewing insurance or other contracts.

In your case as a contractor, UHC/Optum is getting rid of onshore contractors in favor of India & PH which have a lower hourly billable rate. IDK if other offshore contractors in different countries will remain because they too may have a higher hourly billable hour rate.

Plus, last year, company went down to only 2 contracting firms, so the other contracting firms' resources did not get renewed.

I think the CHA managers will be cut next and the CHA's will role up to the ED. If they keep the ED's...

I want to know what is happening with local outreach too! Where are all the CHA's and CHA mangers going to go?! They think central can replace local but central doesn't have the same completion rates for the visits they schedule!

So up until this point, have contracts generally been renewed? I only ask because mine was up for renewal last October (had been there 5.5 years). There was plenty of work and no cause to think it would not be renewed. My boss tried to play it like the decision came down from high, and he "fought against it." But I've always had the suspicion he was incentivized somehow and was full of cr-p. I was led to believe this was part of, or going to be part of, a mass release of contractors, but it sounds like that never happened. So, did my old boss lie? To talk to him now, he sounds indoctrinated. He is all in drinking the Optum Kool-Aid, managing to avoid all RIF's and even bragged about being paid a retention bonus.
