Someone on the Poly sales side just announced they were laid off. Even though they are coming into HP after a merger, I didn't think that sales was ever laid off unless a company is failing. Living like a pauper so that I can save enough to retire early and get away from corporate greed.

The people orchestrating the merger are not necessarily those choosing who to lay off. Politics and pay are the biggest factors. Actual work performance not so much.
Even Poly salespeople received a sign-up bonus.
Yes but poly sales getting 500% more salary then hp will ever get, I am surprised they kept some of them 😮😮😮😮
It's unfortunate to note that similar layoffs seem to be occurring in both the Netherlands and Belgium. It appears to be a challenging time for employees navigating through the aftermath of mergers and corporate restructurings. It's essential to prioritize your well-being amidst such uncertainties and strive towards your retirement goals, away from the corporate hustle.
Layoffs have taken place on the Poly side and it is not because of duplicate sales positions after the merge as far as I know. How the merger was presented, plans for the future etc is very different than how it things are playing out.
More than likely there were duplicate sales positions after the merger. HP just streamlined it.

Or unless a company's customers are abandoning it. Same happened to HP many years ago when customers switched to Dell.
