Thread regarding Phillips 66 layoffs

Trimming the ELT, finally a good transformation!

Pity none of them are getting the "walked out by security" experience that so many of our colleagues have got, but good to see that bloated structure shrink down a bit...

Is Z able to keep her job because is so business savvy or is it because she knows things that would be harmful to certain people if disclosed?

It’s what Z knows that keeps the job.

Think about it.

Personally, I'm saddened by the decision to eliminate the SVP HSE position from the ELT and stack it under Operations. The optics on this counter company values = Safety. Honor. Commitment.

This one certainly fit an old mold. He long ago jettisoned his personal ethics and left a lot of footprints on hardworking contributors. He managed upwards exclusively but his downfall was that he lost the coattails that got him his positions. He lacked the leadership, ingenuity and effectiveness to sustain himself among bloodthirsty and just as incompetent and unfamiliar new blood. Maybe he’ll find an old familiar face out there that will let him once again slop at their trough.

I didn’t mind TR, not so sure this is a good thing although not sad to see DE gone. What’s up with all of the Midstream leadership positions going to DCP folks? We bought them right?

Never seen so many layers of management. Four to five with front line supervision only having 5 or 6 direct reports. Fat Fat Fat!
Old autocratic style and structure from the 90’s.

So BT buried under a new SVP in finance that does not sit on the ELT? So at most this is a VP role? Seems this is not being prioritized any longer. Poor sap that has to “lead” it.

Surely they’re not going to stop with getting rid of just 1 ELT member.

Yeah, I wasn't terribly impressed when I dealt with him back in his RBI days.

IMO - It is my understanding "Davey" was not liked by many refining employees. It probably depended on in what capacity you interacted with him.

Refining is the where they need to focus on cuts and optimization, but the ELT hasn't done it. Refining is underperforming and Elliott has pointed it out. Instead they are squeezing Midstream when we were already lean. The DCP acquisition is a bust and only contributed 100-150 million for Q1. While hP66 made 500 million. The gas business is a dullard. In fact in West Texas some producers are giving it away. I'm not sure who they have doing their research but they are not good.

Is BT over? Have they declared it a success? Is this a desperation move by the CEO? What is going to happen to the 2 employees directly under Mr.Transformation?

I too am glad to see it. If it was ok to happen to me and friends of mine, it’s ok to happen to them.
