I firmly feel that Citi's culture has worsened due to vendor's and vendor consultant's.
Recruiting vendor consultants increases the level of vendor politics within the organization. We perceive prejudice in how work is assigned, acknowledged, and other areas. From Citi's perspective, vendor consultants are equally expensive as contractors.
There is no need to hire them in place of external consultants or employees.
The vendor companies pay them very little and hold them according to the situation of their visa. They keep everything on their notepads and don't discuss technologies for the fear of risking their visas. They start cheap politics and start building their political empire as the team grows. These politics continues in magnitude once they are hired inside Citi. The SVP's, MD's and D's who are hired from vendor favor their old employer resources over others, vendors and get extra payments. This isn't the case for US employees or external contractors.
