Thread regarding 2U Inc. layoffs

Tuition obligation

I had a candid conversation with my boss and HR this week and I was told they would not be pursuing any repayment of tuition from employees who left before their time was up.

I have over a year left and went to my boss to let him know it was the only thing keeping me here and surprisingly he was very cool about it. He scheduled a meeting with our HR rep and they told me they don’t want that to be a bad look for the company.

I plan on looking for new roles over the weekend and thought this might help others.

"Using this post, I also spoke with HR personnel and was told this is not accurate. You signed a contract that will be honored. You may choose to leave and owe back your repayment."

So is this post just someone trolling?

Get everything in we and trust no one. Even that boss you may love or that coworker friend. Too many folks have been told one thing over zoom or phone calls then been burned by HR because there was no proof.

I think the entire tuition team was laid off months ago. For anyone who has finished their degree recently, what did you have to send (and to who) to prove you graduated?

Did you receive confirmation that you are now in your "two year commitment period"?

I have several friends who have heard NOTHING back despite repeated attempts to ask if they are in their commitment period, if there is anything else they need to do, etc etc.

No answers anywhere. So I am not surprised if the obligation is off.

Someone please post here if anyone is alive out there in the tuition obligation/commitment space and who are they????

Definitely get that in writing. Trusting HR is like bringing a fox to the h-nhouse and leaving it on its own for 15 minutes

Don't believe any lies that HR or C Suite tells you. They only care about their bottomline. Only trust yourself.

We're gonna need to know more about this across the company. I know a LOT of people who are stuck here because of this. Please share whatever you can!

Make sure you get that in writing, just so no one can turn around and try to cause issues for you.
