Walgreens bets on expanded specialty dr-g business to help bring cell and gene therapies to patients

What are your thoughts on the new strategy to expand into specialty dr-gs?

Specialty dr-gs are among the costliest on the market — ranging from tens of thousands of dollars to several millions — and account for roughly half of U.S. spending on prescription dr-gs.

Walgreens said a key differentiator for its specialty pharmacy business is that the company isn't tied up with a pharmacy benefits manager, giving it more flexibility with insurers and dr-gmakers.

As the company moves to “transform” its specialty pharmacy services, it will open a newly licensed facility in Pittsburgh dedicated to cell and gene therapy services.

Probably a good move but won't improve the situation for most Walgreens employees so "meh". The stock market didn't seem impressed with the announcement but it was a down day so hard to tell.

All I know is Walgreen's is a unethical company that pays BILLIONS in fines, sells cigarettes and says it's a health based company and cares about the health of it's customers, is open nonstop and got billions of easy money from covid shots and tests...that was business just handed to them, pays it's employee's(especially in the store very low wages) and then still has to cut back and cut back and cut back. . Oh and the stock that some say doesn't matter how it does and that the company will always be around, is down nearly 70% the last five years. I have no idea how you people work for a company like that. . YET some will keep drinking the kool aid and defend them and their employment with them. Pretty pathetic.
