Thread regarding Cengage layoffs

We need more transparency

I wouldn't know about half of the areas that were affected had I not read about it here. The company needs to be more transparent when it comes to layoffs or morale will continue to sink.

Sure they do, they just call it streamlining, reorganizing and right-sizing.

I dont know how long you've worked at Cengage but if you haven't figured out management cares zero about morale, then I don't know what to tell you.

They know that it is a violently shrinking business and the people working in it have few immediate options in terms of new jobs.

So why should they care about morale?

BTW, morale in the industry in general has been awful since the early 1990's with the exception of some demographic driven, pre-internet (or at least very early internet) in the late 1990's.

Right, you can find some information from the Sharepoint. But that's about it.

It's one of the most bizarre things about Cengage culture. Layoff club is never discussed, yet everyone knows who got laid off within a day. I've never worked anywhere where leadership pretends layoffs don't happen.
