Thread regarding 3M layoffs

3M recalls 40,000 defective earmuffs

Classic 3M problem of product failures in the field. Quality Management Systems have recently taken a back seat except for HC and their positive influence is gone. Product failures are expensive, hurt credibility and will result in even more layoffs. Does anyone find it odd that "No injuries have been reported at this time." Yet, "Anyone with these earmuffs should IMMEDIATELY STOP using them and contact 3M to receive free replacement earmuffs."

3M Co. is recalling about 40,000 noise-reducing earmuffs because they risk overexposing users to loud noise, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday.

“The recalled noise-reducing earmuffs can develop cracks in the colored portion of the plastic cups, posing a risk of overexposure to loud noise and sound,” the CPSC said in a statement.

This all stems down to bad hiring practices because 3M hires friends of friends instead of qualified individuals. We have managers who don't manage or have no production experience. Quality managers who never built a product. When employees ask quality questions and they don't have solid answers perhaps you hired the wrong person. Management and quality should come from experienced production operators and not a job board. Why people keep investing in this company blows my mind. Goodluck Boeing.
