Layoffs & Non compete

For those of you that were afraid of taking a layoff and severance package, the good news is now the federal law has been passed that noncompete clauses are non-enforceable. Was passed yesterday. Goes into effect later this year for all but high-level C managers that have negotiated Competes. All other noncompete will be invalid and unenforceable.

Noncompetes are already illegal in California.

Now they need to pass a law forbidding companies from using ATS systems, and force HR departments and recruiters back to doing their jobs.

Limit applicant pools for postings to 50 or 100 per post and (again) let the humans start to do the review and sorting.

Also limit foreign applicants for US job postings … unless the applicant has a current visa and is here in the states. No more 5000 applicants for one job posting in the first hour, most of which are unqualified and swinging for the fences from thousands of miles away.
