Flattening the structure is a myth. There is hardly any intelligent information or discussion at the top. The knowledge and understanding is basic at best. The job now is to layoff and talk stupidity in large meetings. Laying off people is not a job. The job is to show expertise and strategy in the subject and function which is non existent. Strategy is also expected from lower roles so the top can all just sit and collect big fat paychecks. The expertise is in agreeing quickly to kick people out. If you fight for your people, then you are gone and that’s the only flattening at the top. Better yet, dump all your people when you know there will be a layoff, secure another safe position internally for yourself and run off like your pants are on fire. Ugly, weird, intelligent, opinionated, old and simple folks will be gone. Models, yes man, no brains, must talk and look like a super fast sleek jet are all in. Stocks went from 80 to 40 and they are still getting rid of people who are lower on the totem pole. Workers make the company and not those who just sit. Jealousy for work from home is so high that showing up and just hanging around and chatting will get you everything as opposed to slogging. Something is inherently wrong here.
