Regarding time zone differences, etc as an argument for localizing more jobs…if you think companies make decisions on anything more than a spreadsheet you’re not living in our reality. If you can argue you get 50% effectiveness from someone in India who costs 30% of a local person, the calculus is easy (not that I agree with it). Until there is meaningful legislation to prevent offshoring, it will sadly continue.

They should cut more in India. Too many redundant workers. Plus localized is better with whole timezone and communication. Had too many issues working with folks from India. Not better in any way

Did we over hire in IDT? Seems like all hiring was in India.

But is india actually that cheap anymore...more likely Philippines is cheaper. I hear grads in India are equivalent in pay to uk grads

They have already said US, UK and NL will be impacted more than India. Not all roles can be moved to Bangalore. There are too many lines of business in US. No matter how cheap India is there is still a timezone difference that businesses do not like.

From what I know many roles are going to be combined across the hubs. Mostly functional and some technical.

And my reliable sources say 30 percent cut, but I am not clear if it is FTE and contractors or just FTE.

I know very talented, ethical, productive and valuable people in IDT. If Shell cuts them, this is not a place I want to work anymore.

The irresponsible hiring practices of IDT after Reshape is now at a reckoning. Good luck to everyone.

Based on the fact that the US is the most expensive jurisdiction, I am guessing that the US will be the most impacted (percentage-wise) with many jobs transferred to Bangalore.

There are so many useless people in the projects. I hope they will start with scrum masters, multiple leads and focus on hard work.
I know from my own experience that my manager had to spend all they money assigned to have higher base for next year cuts. We kept ppl just to burn money.

Those impacted in step 1 will be noticed by end of May. This will be focused on right-sizing the current organization and all hubs are impacted. There will be further details in Robbert’s webcast end of May. MORs in July and announcements in Aug with Nov 1 go live. Then there will be step 2 which will be an actual reorganization that will happen in 2025 which could have more impacts to staff but we won’t have further information on that one until Q3 2024
