Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Fraudulent job openings

I love how HR is allowing jobs to get posted even though the hiring manager has already identified a candidate.

A great way to waste everyone’s time!

I got into a role they absolutely lied about what it was about. Granted I was in a pretty bad situation in my past job otherwise I would have been absolutely p*ssed that they sold me this job and it wasn't it at all.

fake jobs is an old problem in the tech industry. Sadly it wastes a lot of time for a lot honest people. This is why there's a lot of unfilled jobs on paper. Try landing an interview for these, and if you do, be ready for bizarre feedback for the rejection.

I do not want to be racist but Citi reproduced 3rd word company behavior.
You simply cannot argue with your boss for any reason. He knows better. You can only say Yes Sir. I do not know if this mentality problem or just big company problem.
When I worked at Citi I told I have to work for my boss and not for my clients.
Speaking about different thing… Sorry guys but after all I failed to refinance my mortgage at Citi twice. My mortgage specialist simply disappeared. And this was not a case with BofA and TD. Citi is way bellow any possible lines and it will disappear in few years.

Not just hiring- the same thing happened with layoffs- good people were targeted and ‘criteria’ made up to make sure those people got laid off, while senior managers kept their favourites…approved corruption!

Long while back (5 years), I got a role as an AVP. There was a guy in my group who was a VP. He then got promoted to an SVP the same year. Then got promoted to Director in the same year. He was 29. Didn't know his a$$ from his face. He was stupid but he sure knew how to play the game.

I was recently conducting series of interviews for my manager. We had a perfect internal candidate who didn’t even require training to start the role. Manager of the manager didn’t allow us to hire this person and pick his favorite internal candidate.(might need up to an year of training). He simply didn’t allow anything else.

They just wasted time of around 12 people on interviews.

This is despicable.

Hiring in Citi is a dead process. Managers can hire anyone they wish. They can promote any one they wish.
I have seen SVP's reporting to VP's or VP's words are valued more than SVP's in a project. Similarly it happens at MD and D level.
Its the best example of Company with Bad Culture to fail for upcoming MBA students case study books.

Always been like that, especially in fiu in tampa. People would apply as soon as a posting went live, but senior managers already know who will be picked due to boot licking. Interviews will go on , but you will never get picked, even though you hit all your marks and goals…
