Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Promotion opportunities

Only reason i work at citi is because quality of people here is low and that opens door to faster promotion to people like me who graduated from ivy schools. i am in technology and recently graduated. i have no doubt i become a MD in five years.

I won’t be surprised, have seen “talkers” were given quick promotions even if they aren’t from “ivy” universities.. Hope to see you soon as an “MD”.

For many areas, the VOE scores for mobility are often relatively low. As someone who tried to move within Citi, it was clear that positions were pre-filled. Cronyism is rife at Citi. HR does not want to be involved and they won't provide feedback if concerns are voiced. I gave up and moved to another firm. It was a good decision and I have no regrets leaving Citi.

Op here. I am a wall street elite. If you are from ivy but have been a “vp” more than 3 years you are incompetent. Seriously, in technology you are surrounded by a chunk of those from sketchy schools overseas who read tabloid and believe pseudoscience, how come you don’t stand out there?

Being an Ivy grad used to be a huge advantage, but not since they've gone woke and "progressed" from elite to leftist so that they can cater to the loudest DEI voices. I'm ashamed to call myself a Harvard grad

Apparently mastery of English is not required in "ivy'" universities.

HA! You funny. I have a graduate degree and more than 25 years @ Citi. Still a VP. The higher you go, the easier it is for them to chop you off at the knees. Fly low and avoid the radar.

Looks like this post is from HR trying to attract candidates from Ivy schools. Lol.
