Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Tanzu

Any updates on the Tanzu BU? I heard it is right behind EUC. Any truth to this rumor?

CloudHealth was another PG acquisition. Never was that company integrated into VMW business systems. Never did I ever want to invest an inordinate amount of time selling "a big deal" only to retire 100K ARR, and deal with broken processes every step during a sales engagement. VMW was seriously F'd up when it came to capitalizing on these pricey assets. Based on what I know, I'd throw Tanzu into the mix. Another expensive POS from what I hear

Selling off Tadzu to Radio Shack? More like Costco. Near the Barbie section.
What am I here for? What am I here for?

The line of DOOM is approaching fast. It’s like watching a car crash in slow motion.

This division doesn’t fit in Hock’s world,
I’m surprised he hasn’t totally shopped and chopped it already.

Red Hat dropped their own container solutions and moved to Kubernetes as customers loved the simplicity and drove the markets, whereas the Tanzu team was struggling to standardize the solution and thus causing the current situation.

Nutanix understood the customer role very well and purchased D2iQ, yet another easy solution to implement on any platform.

When VMware was a vendor for us, we were amazed by their ability to do better things and make market moves. Unfortunately, when it comes to Tanzu, they dug their own grave due to the team wanting to develop solutions around vSphere, NSX, and Avi. never think out side of the box

It is a rudderless division and it missed the boat on the containers ship, that sailed years ago. Only outstanding item is will the captain abandon ship before it sinks. It has been off course for years and they don’t even know themselves which direction they are navigating to.

All divisions are given a year and if they go below the waterline they are for the chop, this one is drowning and will never break the line.

Yes, Purnima has been given 18 months to make it a profitable and sustainable BU but so far there's no success. The 18 month period started around Explore Barcelona so less than a year left but it might be sold sooner if Hock has a bad day...

Why are worrying if it will be selling out. Take a chill. Nothing is going to happen except layoffs
