I don’t get how some departments, payment integrity specifically, can hire new people, have open positions, current promotions with in team, but yet laying off. It’s not about getting lean and keeping only the positions that are necessary. These are people that do their job, do it well and add value to the organization.

@3evj+1saK0at8 That is just foul. They would have known when they hired her that a RIF was coming. She might have left a secure job just to end up laid off weeks later. Unconscionable.
New hire joined us less than 2months ago, she was laid off 4.18.
@rab+1saK0at8: I saw a Manager for SW posted for DC area for H&C today so that's a plausible good sign that they plan to keep SW Management. I am concerned they are going to only "need"/ want social workers though. I'm seeing positions for SW type positions that can be filled by MSW, LCSW or even RN with BH background so that is concerning. We have had SW/ BHCM's leave over the past year, and they never backfill. So my suspicion is they will allow BHCM's to stay under a social work role and keep a social work role of sorts, but they don't want a lot of them. They want high caseloads and low income.
vyb+1saK0at8 , yeah and he was good though. I know who you are talking about. Still heard only 4 promotions in our department.
Any word on if they are going to lay off the social workers or BHCMs? We have an interim SW manager right now who has been doing the job for 6 months. She has not received a raise and is still making BHCM wage.
This is normal in the corporate world. A few promotions and raises later? Why have 1 salary that makes $100k/yr when we can have 1 at $70k instead? Very common and su-ks. Seniority doesn't matter outside of the public sector (federal jobs) and some union positions.
My guess would be that theyre getting rid of the higher salaries. My department only laid off a director but stated on a huddle that day that we are hiring more people. Its weird and confusing.
