Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Any sympathy for our customers???

Does anyone actually care that we're sc--wing over our customers so badly? Or are most of you already brainwashed by the Broadcom machine and only care about the $$$? I find it pretty disgusting how we're being forced to tread our customers. We're basically forcing them to look for alternatives.

They'll hand over fistfulls of cash to Cisco, AWS, and Microsoft but nickel and dime VMware.

Most of the Customers who are seeing massive increases are the ones that squeezed VMW and other vendors for stupid discounts and unlimited entitlements.

They’re just paying for what they’re actually using.

I'm about 50/50 on this:

  • 50% of VMW customers treat their vendors (and usually their employees) like disposable commodities, demanded ridiculous discounts, or in some cases commit outright theft of licensing.
  • 50% want to keep their spend within reason, but are otherwise relatively honest in their dealings, albeit not always forthcoming.

So yeah, for a significant portion of the customer base, it is time to pay the piper and I say Skruw Emm.

VMware customers have been given plenty of advance notice that the Broadcom 'profit extraction playbook' would disrupt the status quo and raise prices exponentially.

CIOs who haven't already planned their approach to choosing an alternative vendor only have themselves to blame. HT has stated many times that customer CIO apathy enables AVGO's software BU significant profit margins. Some customer CEOs will fire the lazy CIOs, but Hock is betting that most won't bother. So, there's no sympathy here.

. If you aren't in the C-suite, you need to be!

now what kind of logic is that? If you are talking about government wasting money on spending be products, if you know sales at all governments get lot more discounts than most retail or charity, if you are complaining about government spending away your tax dollars and, you point is you are paying the price indirectly, there are times of $hit you should be worried about than paying for Vmw products. If you are an engineer you must be the d-mbest kind that makes your $hit cooler than the next one to you. Now zip it and stay in a corner.

So what, we all pay for lot of stuff we don’t use anyways

We waste our money in other things, so it's OK to waste our money here too. Great logic there friend. If you aren't in the C-suite, you need to be!

Well if you're a taxpayer then you're paying for it. Many government organisations are using it and are not dynamic enough to get it off any time soon.

So what, we all pay for lot of stuff we don’t use anyways, like health insurance, Car insurance and boatloads of taxes.

If you want to be charitable to your customers, you can certainly do it on your own dime, just not at Broadcom's expense. We don't want customers that don't pay, they are free to switch, and we can save on the support cost.

Do customers care about us when they got 90% discount? I've been in Sales for 3 decades. Personally I'm friend with customers, but professionally I have to do what's best for the company I represented. I'm not selling to my kids here. You don't mix personal and professional, else you're miserable.

Well, I am in sales and definitely don’t wanna sc--w my customers as I might be working for them in the future. I don’t pretend Broadcom is nice but on a personal level I show my customers I try my best for them.

I have empathy for them, but they have a choice and can move even if it is a longer off ramp than they would prefer. You assume everyone who doesn't have your point of view is brainwashed? You only get so many trips around the sun, enjoy them. I work to live, not live to work. At the end of the day, does it really matter if Hock (not we) wants to sc--w them over? I do not agree with his tactics, but does it affect my life? Nope. Enjoy your paycheck & RSUs, get out when you are tired of it or if it really bothers you that much.

Take your paycheck and enjoy life. Don't take your job seriously. It will go away eventually.
