Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Store Managers/Directors

Anyone notice in the closing list stores that they are losing highly experienced Store Managers to the go forward stores and they are replacing them with inexperienced and extremely unqualified candidates. They are promoting anyone who applies without caring about the outcome of the store. It seems like they are just placeholders until the doors close. What's sad is these people being promoted are destroying the last bit of moral left in our struggling locations. They are pushing us to our limits thinking they are going to save our stores when the decisions have already been made. They should have denied any transfers of Store Managers trying to leave these closing stores...in the end they were the ones responsible for the failure of their locations. Why do they get the easy way out instead of losing their jobs like the rest of the store employees?....seems unfair.

If you think or know your store will close, start updating your resume YESTERDAY! I would think that regular colleagues are not going to get any kind of outplacement assistance.

I’ve seen this before where Managers abandon the sinking ship for a better higher volume location. A former Store Manager I know well also took 6 of her favorite Colleagues with her which didn’t leave much for the lesser stores. Her former store is still open for now but not sure for how long. She left the company due to some complaint from another Supervisor, went to another retailer and that store closed within a year. If you plan to stay with Macys try to get into a higher volume location possibly top 50 even better.
