Thread regarding CBRE layoffs

Major restructuring of all divisions/more CBRE layoffs last quarter 2024

From an internal memo we got in HR:

Dear Team,

I regret to inform you of some distressing news that has come to light regarding the future of CBRE.

There will be an internal email that outlines plans for a major restructuring across all divisions and an imminent wave of layoffs scheduled for the last quarter of 2024. The severity of this situation cannot be overstated, and I feel obligated to share this information with you all to ready yourselves for exit interviews and layoff preparation calls.

While the specifics of this restructuring and the extent of the layoffs remain unclear (but mostly due to the economic situation), the implications are undeniably dire. This development threatens the livelihoods of many within our organization and casts a shadow of uncertainty over our future.

I understand the shock and fear that this news may evoke. The prospect of losing one's job is a terrifying thought, especially in times as challenging as these. However, it's essential that we confront this reality head-on and begin preparing for the worst-case scenario.

I urge you to take proactive measures to begin preparations to staff and assist them with exploring any available resources for support during this tumultuous time. Whether it's updating their resume, networking, or seeking guidance from our HR department, now is the time to act.

As [name and position redacted due to privacy], I am committed to providing assistance and guidance to the best of my abilities. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions, concerns, or require support in any way.

In the face of adversity, our resilience will be tested. Let us stand together, support one another, and navigate through these dark times as a unified team.

Stay strong,
[NAME AND DEPT REDACTED FOR PRIVACY]

This company sees you as trash, if you don't think so just stick around long enough and they will show you.

Sounds like more quiet layoffs at CBRE, specifically in GWS Marketing. Anyone else?

Well who says CBRE and other companies don't use ChatGPT? I think every company and person is nowadays, so it's still hard to determine if it is legit or not, because everyone is using CGPT.

I ran the "email" through ChatGPT:

The letter does resemble the style and tone that ChatGPT might produce. Here are some reasons why:

Formal Tone and Clarity: The writing maintains a formal, professional tone throughout, ensuring clarity and coherence, which is a characteristic of ChatGPT's style.

Structured Organization: The letter is well-organized, with a clear introduction, body, and conclusion. Each paragraph transitions smoothly to the next, maintaining logical progression.

Empathy and Support: The letter includes expressions of empathy and support, such as understanding the shock and fear, urging proactive measures, and offering assistance. ChatGPT often incorporates a compassionate and supportive tone when addressing sensitive issues.

Polished Language: The language is polished and grammatically correct, without colloquialisms or informal expressions, which is typical of AI-generated text.

Generalized Advice: The advice provided is general and non-specific, which aligns with the type of guidance AI might give to ensure it is broadly applicable.

Since 2023, many of us have been laid off in several rounds of redundancy. If you check the latest earnings release, there’s still no sign of business recovery. I strongly suggest you start looking for a new job now. I was unfortunately one of those affected, and I can tell you firsthand that the severance package was a joke. Management and HR handled the process with cold indifference. Trust me, it’s best to get out while you can.

It's legit and no, it's not written by ChatGPT. I had to redact the names in the memo email as I don't want to leak it out like that.

Whatever CBRE says, it will likely be worse. They definitely want to project positivity as much as possible.
