Has anyone ever been rehired after collecting severance? I'm applying back in after May 2 layoff. I know some will think that's crazy, but I have 15yrs in, and would like to keep that tenure and benefits, and I also need a paycheck!!! I am also applying elsewhere. However, I am not getting selected for an interview even for jobs that I am extremely qualified for. Wondering if there is a secret blacklist for us, OR has anyone ever successfully returned? I need a job!

If you know someone hiring and have connections your chances are better.
This company has tons of money, check out the quarterly business reports. If you weren’t on the Blacklist you would still be onboard, sorry but I wouldn’t count on UHG
I was rehired 6 months after my RIF. I didn’t have to pay severance back and kept my years of service
I think there is absolutely a black list. Even RNs who got laid off are not able get even an interview for any RN job.
I personally have not but my CC sup did...
The healthcare tech co I used to work at continues to hire former employees, it saves them from the higher cost of recruiting new employees and tends to improve morale too. Plenty of advice online to assist with the hiring and interview process including on LinkedIn. Networking is super important. I also recall seeing an interview cheat list posted on LI that was very good.
I am also trying to be rehired as I need a paycheck. Have had some interviews and just waiting to hear back. There is no way we could sit and not collect the severance pay since they didn't really help us get into a new position. Best of luck to you..
The odds are against you, unfortunately. By the time they see you as an external candidate, they likely already have an idea of who they want to hire from internal candidates. It’s unlikely at this point nobody is applying internally, and like others have said in another post, many of these job requisitions are tailored to specific candidates.
Do yourself a favor and move on. You’ll get paid more for less work.
