Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Salary range

We are currently interviewing to fill a role in NAM.

I am based in Belfast. Salary we are interviewing for is more than 50% greater than my pay even tho it’s exact same role/title.

Is this normal?

Average rent in NYC is probably twice the average rent in Dublin. And btw to the post about the great pay in banking - have a reality check. The money printed by the FED created positions like change manager, etc. where you can be getting the same if not much higher pay than associate/vp at a bank. I am sorry to break that to you but there are many industries now where pay is on par with banking associate/vp roles. Otherwise agree, Director and MD comp is much better, but then again how many of us will reach these levels in their banking careers?

This is why they want to send jobs to Belfast and India.

Cost of living is a major factor. The salary ranges may vary tremendously between states. For example, the expected pay in NY would far exceed Florida.

It's normal, these jobs are highly coveted in the US and competed and the banks outpay each other in search for top talent. One of the few industries where compensation is good and has kept up with inflation. You can be an associate and earn what managers earn at any other industry even directors for that matter.

If cost of living is to be considered and it clearly is giving the difference between regions there should have been a 10-15% global increase at EOY to align with cost of living increases. Didn't happen

What do you mean by the salary? Do you mean the top end of the salary range? or has someone told you the actual amount that they are planning to spend for the new hire?
If you are referring to the top end of the position’s compensation range, it’s definitely possible that it’s paying 50% more than you currently earn. I am in NAM, and the top end is 20%-25% or so more than I make.

Hey you are comparing Apple and Oranges. Cost of living is different in both mentioned countries, which is why you would see such variance. Multiple other factors need to be considered.
