Thread regarding John Deere layoffs

Too many good employees have been shown the door

Why lay off some of the best employees? Aren't layoffs supposed to be a way to cut the low performers? Instead, some of the people who were affected were among the highest performers and made absolutely no sense. Can somebody please explain to me what's going on here?

Why are we moving business out of US. This is our country and it starts and ends here. Is there any remorse for the employees who have taken their own lives over this? For Gods sake look at the human being and you will always be successful. Where I worked before they brought in consultants and there is a beautiful state of the art build sitting empty, destroyed by these consultants. People first, money will come, people last will bring failure.
PLEASE STOP THIS BEFORE more people takes their lives. Farmers will turn away, they want what they always had, quality, US made, and trust. Trust is falling away and if you don’t have that, you have nothing! These consultants are looking in our windows not having a clue what goes on inside! Please stop this operation!

They've cut so many good engineers that I will never buy green again because quality is going to drop substantially. And I would recommend the same to any one of my friends and family. Wait until the drop in quality hits their bottom line and the company goes on a hiring spree in a few years.

I hope we see some people come back but at this point ai wouldn't blame them if they don't.

No, these layoffs are one thing and one thing only. Decreasing labor cost to increase shareholder value. The decrease in performance companywide by losing so many good people is next quarters problem.
