Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Inexperienced leaders

Apparently the senator doesn’t know that’s the UHC/Optum way. To put in adequate leadership in place, experience is not a consideration. “In the four-page letter, Wyden (D-OR) compared the incident to the compromise of SolarWinds and said UnitedHealth’s senior executives and board of directors “must be held accountable” for a cascade of reckless decisions — most notably having a chief information security officer who had not worked in a fulltime cybersecurity role before he was elevated to the job in June 2023.“

Change the name of the company and the logo and you will find the same BS is every company it is not unique here. Always has been and always will be. He who has the gold makes the rules. This hearing stuff just grandstanding theatre nothing ever happens. Just here for illusion to the proles who most likely are not paying attention anyway

The May 2 layoff is proof that the leadership has no idea what they’re doing. Ask around. How many teams are being burned out because they’re understaffed? How long until they look for other work?
When these leaders simply look at entire business segments and tell them to cut their staff by 10 or 20 percent regardless of their relationship to the ongoing business issues, there’s a problem.
Undoubtedly there are segments out there that were redundant and needed trimmed, but that’s not how they looked at the situation. There was a cyber attack, they panicked and slashed jobs everywhere and it’s hurting everyone.
Internal teams, customers, physicians.

Cronyism and the "hired talent" in MN is spot on. Never seen such ineptitude and pure lack of skills amongst most of the MN "leaders" hired here. 100% Yes people who only stroke each others ego's, which is very apparent on calls:

Examples heard on calls:

"Oh, , you always know what to do and say."
"Oh, , you're the best leader ever."
"Oh, , you look so nice today."
"Oh, , may I rub your feet for the next 5 hours, as everyone else does and shows you how to do your job."

I have always said the worst thing about this company was its cronyism, I blame the MN woke culture for allowing it. The hidden costs of bad decisions and mistakes over the years is just nuts to think about. Good thing medical insurance is a cash cow, and this place is in it for the cash!

By now we know how AW operates - elevate or promote only the “yes” men/women and reward them handsomely!

Why? AW can sit in his ivory tower sipping a glass of whisk-y (or a few). When all H@ll broke lose, he can push the blames down stream. RIFs then case closed- win win for the share holders and Bo$rd
