Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Get the real picture

Dear Mr. Tony Springs, As the new CEO, you're making your rounds to some of the stores in LI. Sir, we've spent days dusting and cleaning. We've had other management from other Macy's coming to our store to help in the clendiness of our store. Sir, if you really want to see how any of the Macy's are being kept and how the management runs the business, PLEASE pop in randomly. You can't make changes if you don't have the real picture.

Same old story similar to JG and TL when they were CEO. Bunch of people help clean up and organize the store for a less than hour visit. Move on to next store in the area and same thing. Go back to Ivory Tower in Herald Square, rinse and repeat. Have not met Tony yet I hear he is decent. Jeff G was decent in person too but the business has gone downhill for how many years now and not just because of Amazon !!!!!

In a word, YES. You can expect a flurry of days of wild anxious activity surrounded by people you have never seen brought in from other stores. They will re-direct your staff to straighten, clean and eliminate fixtures (so the store is more "shoppable") and all that merch that your truncated staff has been struggling to put out to make sales goals will now be put back on rods and hidden in every corner of every stockroom in the building.
You will work yourself into a frenzy to make your store shine , and then Mr. Spring and entourage will make an appearance for maybe, 40 minutes. All those planned staffing schedules will be thrown out the window so good luck with lots of overtime costs. The upside? That ancient air conditioning system that never seems to work (how many work-orders does that take) will miraculously be on at full blast. So enjoy the cool comfort for one day because that's all you are gonna get. Already been there.

I just found out Tony Spring is coming to my store in a few weeks, too. What can I expect? Are all the managers from the district gonna descend on my store to help clean and merchandise and all that sh*t?

@win+1sLFVOod I agree that this is totally about ego. I won’t give them (i.e., those at the top of the food chain, not just Tony) the benefit of assuming that they’re ignorant, they’re greedy and self-absorbed. They know the stores are barely functioning, but they don’t care as long as they make a profit and can justify giving themselves bloated bonuses after they cut thousands of employees (many of whom worked on the store level).

I wonder who’s funding that corny podcast he’s making that nobody watches/listens to…lol
